"Goodwill Hunting" (knife freebies)

The lower one with the “Alaska” antler handle is an ulu, traditional to some natives there. I had an old buddy who made them from worn out circular saw blades.

Ulu knives are great in the kitchen. Great for finely chopped herbs and such. Also great for pizza.

BTW, Ulu knives were/are used by northern natives to scrap the sinewy tissue off of animal carcasses, ie. seal skins.

You might be right, the POS contest for this year may very well be over, I was actually trying to be funny.
The comments regarding a Ulu knife being used for chopping veggies or cutting pizza are reason enough to scrub it down and hang it on your kitchen wall.

Very nice collection of 'freebies', KIm. Very gracious and generous of you. KEEP the Ulu...it's unique and very usable. I've used one for years for dicing onions, carrots, etc. There's usually a concave style 'bowl' made of wood that they are used with that matches the curvature of the Ulu blade. It helps in 'rocking' the Ulu back and forth when cutting items.

Normally, the POS exchange occurs every February and runs into March, once everyone who participated has posted their smelly mess. Always a great time of camaraderie and fun...with a treasure or two included, but optional.

Thanks for the additional info about the Ulu LJ, others have mentioned how handy they can be so it's been taken out of the POS pile and is sitting in my kitchen. Thanks for the info about the exchange too, I wasn't really sure what time of year it was done and I am looking forward to it big time
