Could be a sheepfoot blade which was also used by a number of makers in that frame or a well worn hawkbill. Who's the maker?

Strange, "This is a XX era Case." doesn't show up in the original post here. I'm not even close to knowledgeable about Case knives but I thnk the 6217 was a two blade knife in that pattern with a sheepfoot main and a pen secondary. Possibly they made a single blade version? That's my questionable contribution, I leave you to the experts. ::nod::

Eric

Now that I look at it it doesn't appear that the handles are indentical between the two.

Case made a navy rope knife like that in the Tested era. 11011 "hawkbill" frame but with a sheepfoot blade. There is an example on the board of WWII era contact knives in the Case/Zippo museum. I'm guessing it was only made as a military contact knife.

Then, are you saying this knife is authentic Steve.....

The hawkbill frame/sheep foot combo was popular among a number of the older cutleries. Many of those knives were also called rope knives or navy knives and many were contracted to both the navy and the coast guard. I've no doubt that Steve is correct in his post. Here are a few other examples from different companies:

My observation is that the knife in my first post was an altered hawkbill blade. When comparing the 2 knives, the first being of the XX era and the second being of the 65--69 era my contention is that the second knife is authentic with the long pull, typical of this pattern, but I see no long pull on the first knife I posted. There also seems to be evidence of substantial grinding on the first post. The first has a hawkbill frame with a rope knife blade..the second has a rope knife frame with a rope blade. It is is not my intention to confuse the issue but to bring attention to the distinct difference in the two knives.

Yes but you are looking at two totally different patterns. The second one is an 11031 SH.

I like LoomFixers. A LoomFixer has the same sway back handle as yours with a sheepsfoot primary and a pen secondary.

While looking for LoomFixers I see a lot like yours. Sway back jack with only a large sheepsfoot blade. Most of the time they have shackles. Were a LoomFixer generally does not have a shackle.

I think your knife was always a sheepsfoot. I would call it a rope knife.

Also most of the sway back jack’s that have hawkbill blades do not have shackles. So another clue that yours is unaltered.
