Who made these USA made new Schrade?

Post by Sharpnshinyknives »

SMKW has these in an email I received today. They say they are made in the USA, just wondering who the manufacturer is? I suspect it’s Bear, but not certain. Priced about 75 dollars, so at the low end of a USA made knife, which really makes me think Bear. Any thoughts.

The handles/jigging sure looks Bear.

Since it's USA made, I'd have to presume it's either Bear or Utica. I'm leaning towards Bear too.

I agree, it looks like Bear to me also.

I looked up Schrade on SMKW and it pulled up a list of 37 knives, of which only 15 were in stock. Made me wonder if they're getting rid of some of the older Chinese made stuff? ::shrug::

Smith and Wesson acquired the Schrade name and intellectual properties not too long ago. They said they'd be bringing Schrade production back to the U.S. and I think this is one of the results. No idea who the maker is though.

Thanks for the input. I looked up pictures of Bears stockman knives and definitely see similarities. The nail nick is different, but then I found pictures with the same nail nick so it looks like we have a winner.

Whomever the maker, its a step in the right direction. Now if some one would get the Queen name back onshore, preferably not Bear. They deserve to be quality, made here.
