Love the bone on your Congress!!!!!Reverand wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 11:29 pm I don't often find Case knives within my price range, but I came across these two at a thrift store, a month or so back.
The Congress is marked 64052, and I believe that it is a 1980 model. The blades show some wear, but they are snappy and I do love the bone on this one. It has made it into my EDC rotation.

The 1972 61048 slimline Trapper is in really great shape. It has a few small freckles and spiderwebs started on the blade. So I used a #2 pencil and oil on it. It is not mint, but still has the factory edge! I don't have the heart to carry it.

Sweet pick up. Congrats.AndrewH wrote: ↑Wed Jul 05, 2023 6:54 am Hi All, I just bought this SOD BUSTER here in Australia.
Initial research of the advertised Fair suggests Aurora Indiana. Can anyone suggest any other alternatives for the Fair that is advertised thanks. Just curious of the history, and thanks for any help.

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
I've bought new 6 Case knives in the past six months including 4 small Texas toothpicks, a medium Texas Toothpick, and a teardrop. While they all snap open nicely, Only the teardrop has a solid half notch the rest are "squishy". What's the story? I've always thought a good slip joint should snap open, closed, and half notch as a sign of quality. What is your perspective? Has Case gone cheap or what? I recently bought a Boker slip joint that is snappy in all three positions. Whatha heck?

Picked up this little fella from a local flea market, shame about the broken blade- or it would be exceptional.

Welcome to AAPK, see you're new to the forum. A more sympathetic ear you will not find my friend. You see years ago, like 2014-15ish, the point was brought up exactly. Case quality issues, gaps, wobble, mushy snap, rounded stock, poor transitions, poor fitting run up, etc. I kind of blew it off and still bought the occasional new knife. Eventually however, I learned the hard way and experienced exactly what the heck they said and what you just described. Took me to the point of fed up. Enough. I won't buy another Case knife from this Century. And try to avoid 1990s and 80s. Been burned too many times. I don't need to beat that dead horse more. So I strictly buy only Case pre about 1979. My axiom on Case is the older the better. Stick with the oldies, they were much better knives, so much better than what they are putting out now. That's why I save my pennies and buy GEC. I don't get the disappointment like when I buy one of this year's Cases. Sorry you had similar experiences, but that is a story that I keep on hearing. Becoming a fact of the 21st century or that's my 2 cents. Your mileage may vary.

Aurora Indiana is in far southeastern Indiana on the bank of the Ohio river and just a hop skip and a jump West of Cincinnati Ohio. Sorry to see no one responded to your question.AndrewH wrote: ↑Wed Jul 05, 2023 6:54 am Hi All, I just bought this SOD BUSTER here in Australia.
