I got one one on Oscar's recommendation. I am very happy with it.Dan In MI wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 5:38 pmThat's a real keeper!Sharpnshinyknives wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 11:34 pm Canal Street Cutlery made this muskrat for AAPK in 2012.![]()
I got a new knife in the mail this morning. Oscar gave it a great recommendation, and I now understand why. More of these will be added, I'm sure.

Indeed it is!
You did show yours not long after you received it, as I recall. They sure are great little knives!

That would be cool! Zed6309 made one. I can see myself attempting to make Micarta handles for one of the many I'll inevitably purchase.

I figured out why it's taking me so long to post my new knives, it's because I'm reading and answering my "Notifications" for an hour each day! lol! I really don't mind though, considering the alternative!
I have this nice Al Mar to post today, and it came in as the 2nd choice of this model since I couldn't wait to find one with black covers at a reasonable price any longer! I've been searching for almost 3 years for the one I want, but it sure doesn't seem it's gonna happen!
It's an Al Mar "Eagle", and it's 9" oal with an AUS-8 spear-point blade, jigged Honey bone covers, and SS hardware. This is the less expensive model that was made in China, but was the best I could do short of paying US$300. or so for the one I want. It's still an Al Mar, it's still 9" oal, it just doesn't have black micarta covers, darn!
My pictures don't reflect the vivid coloring that looks so good in person, sorry!

That is a great looking knife Mark. I see these all the time on eBay and keep wondering about the quality and build. They certainly look like the original Japan made ones. Very nice.

Thanks Garry and Mark, I knew I could count on you two to post comments.
Having never handled a Japanese made copy I can't say for sure if mine is up to par with those, but everything is where it's suppose to be, with tight tolerances and flawless fit and finish.
The fact that the knife is a full 9" oal, along with how good it looks and feels in my hand is good enough for me!
That is one fine and wicked looking Kukuri you have there, Garry, and I love "shiny" knife blades!
It's really nice, congratulations!

Nice! Back when I began to move my primary EDCs folders towards lightweight lockbacks, a member here offered me one of the original Al-Mar Ultralights for about $60. I noticed those same models now are about $100 after Al Mar's passing and the sale of the company. They've really shot up in price.Madmarco wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2023 6:55 pm I figured out why it's taking me so long to post my new knives, it's because I'm reading and answering my "Notifications" for an hour each day! lol! I did the same with the Schrade USA 44OT Workmate. It was sold not long at all, and is hard to find as ISC Schrade Made in USA. I picked up the Taylor version for $25 at a local farm and feed store. Not a bad knife, though I wish Taylor would use better grinds.

Beauty, great looking blade and some fine leatherwork. Nice score.

Picked up this leverlock and am impressed with the smooth operation, the lock up, and the horn. I like a good auto but the horn pretty much hooked me.
