2023 AAPK Knife
Hello, i'm a new member but longtime knife guy. Just wondering if anyone can tell me how the AAPK knife release works?
Thanks for your help, first time on the forums so forgive me if it seems like a dumb question.

Re: 2023 AAPK Knife
Welcome to AAPK.
Assuming you’re referring to the annual AAPK Forum knife?
Every year about October/November the AAPK site owner reveals the selection of that year’s forum knife. Here’s my (unofficial) understanding of the process. If you’ve purchased one in the past and are a contributing subscriber, you’ll get an email announcing the knife and price, with a link to purchase one. Limit is one knife per member, first come first served. The knives are sold through the AAPK member store.
Typically one of those receiving the notice then makes a post about it (“spilling the beans” I think is the term). After that it’s a first come free-for-all, until the knives are all sold. Depending on popularity of that year’s pattern, the knife typically sells out in a few hours, or within a few days.
So your best chance to obtain a forum knife is be a supporting member - I see you have already done so (info about subscriptions can be found by clicking where it says Support AAPK on upper right of this page). Then be a frequent forum participant, so you’re likely to receive the announcement, and/or see the post and jump on it ASAP afterward, before the knives are sold out.

Re: 2023 AAPK Knife
This has kind of been an evolving process over the years. The method we use now & expect to use going forward unless we can figure out a way to improve it goes as follows...
We send all supporting members an email notification as soon as the knives are available for sale for any given year. The notification will have a link to where supporting members can buy the knives. AAPK has software in place to only allow supporting members to have access to the knives for sale for a period of time (3 days I think). If there are any left over after the period of time, they are made available to buy through the store by any member.
IIRC, over 2 of the past 3 years, all of the knives were sold to supporting members and never made it to members who did not have supporting memberships.
Hope this helps!
