I just choose from one of these four...

The only knives I keep on my dresser near my keys, wallet and EDC pistol (which is kept in a quick-access, locked steel mini safe atop the dresser)

Great carries all. So many preferences to admire even though maybe not your thing...

CASE XX Era 6265 Second Cut Stag. Well used, almost daily as I alternate two knives, same old school era and pattern. Always carry a CASE Hunter. Just love the skinning bade for all sorts of tasks. Gets used many times daily for work and around the house.
That old carbon blade takes one heck of a sharp edge on a stone.
