Identify a maker

Post by riverdive »

Does anyone have any idea who this maker may be? The knife is well made, very tight. It looks like a pointy-eared critter with a long tail...Mayne a bull? All tools and blades have a solid snap. Thanks for any help

Looks a bit like a cat facing left. Letters look like "MAR" or maybe 'MAY" or "MAK". Below is "INOX" which on many European knives means "Stainless". Could be Italian, French, Spanish, maybe even German.. Looks older, with that type of can opener. Nice stag, German? Good luck with it. J.O'.

Just for dating purposes, stainless was invented in 1914 and didn't get popular on knives until a couple years later. So, that knife is not older than that, but that's still over a hundred years ago. The C.Lutters knives I've seen have a reclining lion, but maybe ?? The more I look at the knife the better I like it. Nice pocket worn stag. ::tu:: ::tu:: J.O'.

Yeah it is well built. The critter is a total mystery to me. It's not a bull with those ears. I guess they could be pointy horns ::shrug:: The tail is so long and has what looks to be a bushy end like a lion. I have a feeling it will remain a mystery ::smirk::
