I agree with your hypotheses. I don't think there was much cooperation between Ulster (or ISC), under Albert Baer and Camillus until after Adolph Castor's death in 1947. Indeed, it may have been well after that when the cooperation began.

This is an excellent point of research. I'm going just Tom Williams about it.
I know Albert Baer left Camillus with a pretty good chunk of Camillus stock, but as I recall there was a bit of resentment at his leaving. This was probably due in large part to the fact that he took the Sears account with him. He had developed the Sears account, and the Sears people were very loyal to him personally, but it has to hurt when your top salesman leaves and takes your biggest account with him.

That resentment is just what I was referring to, especially the little historical pieces that Michael posted a while back on BFC. I believe Once Mr Kastor passed away, Albert Baer retained control of the company, and passed control to his two daughters. This I believe is when the "sharing" of parts came about. It would definitely be interesting to hear Tom Williams' take on this as i'm only going by bits and pieces that I recall reading in the past.

Here is tmwsiy's 272 added to the mix. The nail nick on the Ulster is a bit longer than the Schrade and Keen Kutters which are the same length. I made all the frames the same size.

My 272 is a later vintage (plastic Tube era) which does not have a Saber ground master. The frame is the same- no cut out for the Pen blade nick. Won't have access to it until monday when I'm back at my studio. Busy this weekend being the carpenter's helper etc....

Heres a sample from my pitiful lil Schrade collection.. A 293 NOT nearly as impressive as the knives above..

Here is a Maher & Grosh that I think was made by Schrade Cut Co,
sure looks like it in spite of the worn clip blade!

Very nice Hoffritz New York knife there Charlie--Please check out the E. Weck & Son half-congress--There has been some information written on E.Weck & Son knives because they made switchblades(yep), Book called Antique American Switchblades by Mark Erickson has a section under E. Weck & Son with information regarding some patent's for which Scrade Made knives for them--Interesting though we all can see that famous peach seed that schrade loved to use--Thx Mark

Now, you all know that Schrade is not my baliwick. I still have my Old Timer large stockman from when I was a boy, but that's it.
I have, however, been reading these Schrade threads with interest and admiration of the fantastic knives you guys post.
I came across this Weck on Ebay today. Anybody ever see a big folding hunter like this one.
I suspect that bone says, "Schrade" to somebody here.

It looks Schrade to me!

It looks like a Schrade Cut Co I picked up at the Oregon show in '08.
