Meyerchin Crew, the original Japan-made version--said to have been produced by Hiro.

I needed a marlinspike that was compact, one-hand opening for both blade and spike; as well as locking blade and spike. Meyerchin's offerings were the only ones that were all of the above.

I didn't really care for the fact the new ones were Chinese-made, or their "bails" were tiny pieces of wire. The original has a heavy shackle like most US-made rigging knives, and is a strange mechanism--lifting the shackle to release the marlinspike also releases the blade when locked (also, the marlinspike releases the locked blade.

The ergonomics are much less clunky, and more like a comparable blade-only folder. Need to thin the edge a bit more--had a blunt edge (best I could tell--it is factory) and mine didn't get it to where I wanted.

Every Boker Magnum you put up Mark looks fantastic. The CRKT are pretty nice too.

Cody, I love the details you shared about this Meyerchin Crew. I’ve thought about carrying a marlin spike knife but they never appealed but this one sounds perfect. I like the one hand opening of both the blade and the spike and that it was made by Hiro is a huge bonus. Thanks for sharing.

I got this one in today. Thought I already owned this stockman but I don’t so into the collection it goes. A Dave Shirley Marbles from 2001. Only 100 of these were made so it’s a rare find.

Thanks Theo, the red stag bone sure is pretty. Not as pretty as amber stag bone, but still awfully nice.

I agree, the Red Carved Stag Bone (RCSB ::hmm:: ?) is awfully nice indeed. I am a huge fan of ACSB but I had never seen the red version before and I like it...very much. ::tu::

I have a couple more posts of knives recently received but not yet posted, but, these 2 beauties coming from Mark at SSk were unexpectedly early in my mailbox yesterday and I'm so proud of them I decided to jump ahead and show them today! 8)
First, this 6" oal GEC slip-joint with sheepsfoot blade, NS hardware, and dyed blue camel bone covers! What a beauty!

Then is this 7 3/4" oal 2008 version of an A.G. Russell Texas Ranger series gunstock lockback with 9Cr18Mov clip-point blade, SS hardware, brass commemorative shield, and black micarta covers! This will go nicely with my 2011 version T/Ranger series toothpick slip-joint!

Marco, you have had a red letter day. The GEC is a knockout. The blue camel bone with NS bolsters will, I predict, become legendary.

I think you know I admire this series of AJR's Texas Ranger knives. They are just the thing when we need a knife with a little more oomph.

Thank you very much, Garry.
I would not be the least bit surprised if your prediction came true, and not so far down the road either, I know the first time I saw the blue camel bone on other knives I was highly impressed, and now I'm seeing more and more makers using it.
I have a T/R series toothpick in my collection already, and I loved the way the gunstock looks so I picked it up from Mark. Wanting to know more about the series I did a search on the net and found all sorts of information, particularly that they also made their BIG Folding Hunter, Beast, and I was aware of their Sunfish already that I'm planning on getting.
As-a-matter-of-fact, when I spotted the gunstock in Mark's store I remember thinking, "Garry likes these", so yes sir, I know you admire them! ::handshake:: By the same token, I know that you know my liking for BIG hefty knives, and the 2 models I have so far both fit that bill perfectly!
I keep tellin' them, "Great minds think alike!"

Those sure are pretty Mark. Glad you like them. That blade on the GEC is VERY popular. That A.G. Russell is a well built solid knife.

Thanks a lot, Rev!
That's just how I felt when I first saw it in Mark's store. He has others in different styles and colors.
Smaller than I was expecting, but I can easily overlook that due to it's beauty.

They sure are aren't they, buddy.
The blade on the GEC along with the color is what got me.
I've been researching the T/R series and there are 3 more styles I'd love to add, the Sunfish, the Beast, and the BIG folding hunter.
If you come across any or all 3 please let me know immediately before you list them.
As usual, it was a pleasure doing business with you! ::handshake::

Thanks Marco,This one is for me. I’m always on the lookout for the the one Skip is missing though, and tipped him off on another pair on auction the same time I got this. I’ve never even seen these before Skip’s thread about them, so it put me on the hunt.
