Wilbert knives and there different stamps? Plse show yours
Hello all and thanks in advance for your posts. I have never seen another curved stamping like this before have you?? All the stampings on other wilberts I have seen in the past are the straight line stampings. As noted in Goins, Wilbert(inside a diamond)--I wonder if this knife used to have a diamond around this mark?? I dunno. My grandpa gave me this knife before he past away this year and he found this knife in the 1970's. He told me that it had lazy blades and he had the bolster pin replaced to give the knife snap again(oh yes, it was done for him in 1975). Could you tell the knife been apart??--not me!!! This should be a learning lesson for all of us. My grandpa went by BIG JOHN when he done gun AND KNIFE SHOWS in the 1980's. This stockman was also rehandled with his name in 1975, it was his favorite carrying and using knife and was past to me by him this year before he past away. The wilbert knife has all brass pins and the stockman is a hammer brand with all nickle silver pins. Only after opening the stockman can you see that only one empty hole where a pin used to be for a shield on this knife--Other than that, it does not look to have been apart(besides the handles with big john) another lesson here. The guy who done this was very good at taking knives apart and fixing them back to original without leaving any clues--that is the point here--so BEWARE BEWARE when buying an old knife that is not in your hands for you to inspect. My assumption after I got these knives were to not be so picky about a knife thats been apart or repaired, NOT to be confused with COUNTERFIETING(big difference). I hope these little things might be of some help to everyone who loves old knives as much as I do.

Here are two, both straight line. One with "CHICAGO", and one without. I've never seen the curved one either.
