Sorry for your loss, Swedgehead. Losing a dog leaves a scar that never really heals.

Bear is settlng in.
Lampshade number 4 since Monday night about time go on.
I tried super deluxe bitter spray from Vet. Use 2 squirts they said, I hosed his rear down with about 20 sprays.
ZERO EFFECT!!! I think he might have liked it. Wish me luck on my near future gentle wrestling match.
Sadly, no one ever payed attention to him it seems. Knew no commands. Already have him sitting and laying down. Those commands are pretty important in any dog, especially with the magnitude of sheer size and strength in giant dogs.
I reach around his neck and gave him a big hug and he nuzzled in and loved it. Not anyone ever did that for him. Who knows. Hope I can pull this off but huge progress in just long hours.
Pics don't do justice to showing his actual size.

Jerry, I don't understand why some people get a dog and then don't pay any attention to it. But it seems like Bear won the lottery and finally landed in a good spot with you. How much does he weigh?
Rueger's dad is a little over 100 lbs, and his mom is around 90, so we expect Rueger will be around 100 lbs as well. Ahter is around 120.

Re: SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!
Hey Mike. I am with you
I just think some people are selfish and some don't really ponder/ think about the gravity of the responsibility and commitment. Oh, what cute puppy. It is like an Easter bunny rabbit thing. Novel at the time, but then initial self absorbed feeling goes out window when responsibility comes to town and the Piper needs to be paid.
Super sad in my opinion. Don't get me started on all the COVID era critters that are being surrendered like crazy.
His exact weight is in question. Puppy pound said 120#.
Vet said 100# A year old. I trust Vet scale more likely. He is big enough but it is what it is.
That said, he is big enough where you are not convincing him to do anything he chooses not to. Leaps and bounds made in very short as far as long term outlook. Only brought him home Monday and he is a HUGE puppy still. He has as big huge tennis ball on a rope that he is swinging around like a track field hammer throw today.
Thanks for asking. Jerry

Re: SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!
Glad you are making progress with Bear. All of our dogs have been surrendered by a previous owner, except our new Moki. It’s funny how a dog finds it’s right owner many times. We have had issues with our rescues, but giving up on them was not an option. I think you have to approach having dogs that way, if you have a plan B with a dog, you will take it. It’s hard at times and aggravating but giving up is not ever something we would ever do.
Big dogs present big challenges and it sounds like you are up to the challenge. Just can’t praise you enough for the great life you are giving Bear.
I took this picture yesterday. Moki likes Tucker but Tucker still hasn’t accepted him yet. To our surprise, Scout our other Golden Retriever seems to be more loving toward him than the other two.

Re: SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!
Hey Mark,
Thanks for the kind words Mark. Was a clear, inspiring message.
Kudos to you and yours as well for all the dogs you committed to taking on and giving a good life. And your new cute pup, of course.
While I pondered and thought long and hard about the decision, I mentioned to the Animal Control gal whom I know. "He probably won't be around long" She stated he likely would be hard to adopt out due to sheer size as a puppy, massive food consumption, and long hair. Sad but true.
The COVID critters makes my blood boil. There are so many surrendered animals, not even funny. Not just now only but last few years. When all the people that were "working" at home went back to the workplace. They didn't factor that in to the commitment they made?
If one reluctantly must give up a pet to give it a better life for changing circumstances or even thought it through hard and long and stuff happens, I get it.
Take care, Jerry

Re: SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!
We have a full blown WWE going on in the back yard with Ahter and Rueger. Man, they play rough. Mr. Short Pants gets knocked a-winding and yelps a little sometimes, but then he jumps right back up and into the fray again. Ahter is very gentle with him, considering she could chomp him in half with one bite. Kangal's are supposed to have the strongest bite-force in the canine world, but she is relatively patient and gentle with him. She swings her big head around and bowls him over, but he is relentless..... until they are both tuckered out.
