remington r4223

Hi there I have a remington r4223, it has circle around Remington UMC and made in the U.S.A. on the outside of the circle; which i have not been able to find any information about on the web. Is there a good website where I can get some information on this knife? I am new to the knife collecting world, but enjoying learning about the knives. Thanks for any help.

I agree he has put together a great web site, but I did not see this particular knife or a description of it and that is why I posted question. In pulling down the knife guides I did find out the materials and general age of the knife and some of the Remington history but again nothing about the r4223 specifically, which is what I was looking for. Thank you for your reply.

What does the tang stamp read EXACTLY?

I've found an RS4233....3 3/8" Jr. Scout knife, in brown bone.....does this sound like your knife?

If it doesn't, it may be a more modern knife made by Camillus, for Remington. You might email Remington, if that's the case.

Unfotunately I do not have a way to get a picture to post.

The tang stamp reads exactly R4223.

No the RS4233 Jr. Scout Knife does not sound like my knife.

Thank you for your help I guess I will keep looking and e-mail Remington to see what they have to say.

I decided to look through a couple other books I have, and I found a listing for a Remington R4223 in Houston Price's book.

It is described as a 3 1/4" Cattle knife with bone scales. A Cattle pattern is USUALLY equal end, with 3 blades. The configuration is most often a spear main blade, a sheepsfoot, and a spey or punch. There are other versions out there. It is SIMILAR to a Stock(man) pattern, but is usually a bit thicker/heavier. At 3 1/4" (if this sounds like yours) it is often called a Junior Cattle knife.

Is that any closer to your knife? If not....

....it's all I could find about that pattern number.
