I know just enough about vintage case to make a fool of myself here and again, so have this question: Does this check out? Meaning does the stamp and shield all seem legit.

Yes the knife is real, and a nice one with the "bomb" shield. It has been cleaned and polished - note the pitting at the tang stamp.
