I recently picked these two up for the store. Some of the oldest I’ve offered. A Buck 307 from before 1986 and a Schrade Walden 810 from the 54-73 era. Both are so well made. I understand why older knives are so sought after by collector’s, they made them better way back when.

I recently picked these two up for the store. Some of the oldest I’ve offered. A Buck 307 from before 1986 and a Schrade Walden 810 from the 54-73 era. Both are so well made. I understand why older knives are so sought after by collector’s, they made them better way back when.

Amen to that. The Schrade is a sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetie. The knives I have from the early 20th century to WW2 are top notch. Almost every company's knives from that era are like GECs today, top of the industry, excellent design and build, and blow away stuff like modern Case knives and the imports. The manufacturing industry a hundred years ago was the world standard I think, and what they made in our factories with zero computers and relatively low technology is better than todays disposable/throw away culture minded manufacturing with their high tech tools and computers making low grade, low quality, mass produced knives. When the car companies and the knife companies and many others "retooled" in the 1980s and went to different manufacturing techniques, things were never the same again. A hundred year old knife will blow away our modern ones, and especially the foreign imports. Except Moki and some Japanese makers like Ohta etc. They to me are about the best these days and are a different animal from Traditional American made knives, but top notch quality and industry standard. And I"ve said before, all GEC had to do was start making what Case, Schrade, Queen, Pal, Remington, Winchester, Challenge, Camillus, etc. stopped making back in the 1970s and 80s. Just make a quality knife like they did back then and your business will grow like GEC. There is demand for them. I know you know what I mean. Agree 100%.

Wow! Two real beauties!!! As I recall the 307 has a main blade at 4.25 and it a real solid BIG stockman, one of my favorites That is a great piece ... The Schrade Walden 810 has a very sleek and elegant look to it another great find You done good

You said it I-Man! Have you ever looked at very many NY. Knife Co. knives (also the original "Hammer Brand")? They ended production in 1931. I have come to appreciate their quality, however, not so easy to find around here in person.

I have a NYKCo Whittler and have had a couple Hammer Brand knives. Yeah, they are like the oldies I mentioned, better era for manufacturing and quality production. Excellent pieces that have stood the test of time. I didn't mention all the brands like Simmons, Utica, Ka-Bar, and many more, but I meant them. I would include all those in the era I was talking about. Great additions, thanks for reminding me. Amen to that.

I absolutely agree 100% in everything you said, sadly though GEC’s in the uk are out of many of our price range , even Case are not cheap here , I tend to buy from the secondary market especially for case , or hunt at markets for bargain old knives

Outstanding! I love old Schrade Walden knives. And that Buch 307 is fantastic too! It’s the size I prefer in a stockman. I always meant to pick one u-when they were being made, but never got around to it. Yours looks brand new!

Beautiful Iman, love these old Case stockman’s.

TopDog, It looks like Mountain Moss bone on that Henckels whittler. One of my favorite handles that Henckels used. Hellbraun bone is another and Fossilized Mammoth Ivory are the others that look similar to this, all are a favorite in my book. Love that pen feather jigging.

Not usually a fan of sowbelly stockmans but I got this case TB6339 cv at a good price , it’s a shame the kick on the main blades been grinder too low but I can live with it
