Possibly tortoise shell? ::shrug:: Any remnants of a pattern number?

The lighter areas look like MOTS celluloid? Could the dark parts be stains under the scales? If it's real tortoise shell it's unlike any I've ever seen. If the pattern number stamp ends in a "2" it may be real tortoise. There is a test that can be done to determine if it's real shell. J.O'.

I think they are celluloid. Best guess at pattern number would be 23074 or 23674 if it has a number at all. Anyway it's a nice knife and I'd be happy to own it. ::tu:: J.O'.

Mike: Is "end of the day" a type of celluloid or are you saying, "At the end of the day it's celluloid".? O'.

It’s an old school term for , at the “end of the day” when making celluloid scales they threw in all the scraps and the colors sometime came out a little funky / off colors .

Looks like immitation onyx to me asl well. End-o-day is normally much more varied. This look like a few chips of some dark celluoind was mixed in.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.
