2023 POS Exchange

I got my package from Knifegnome today. I'm surprised it wasn't delivered by forklift, the box weighed about 8 pounds!

Anyway, there was definitely some POS in there, but also many other interesting items that a person like myself would find valuable. Scott must know me! It'll take a bit to go through this all, but that's half the fun.

My poo package from the North Pole (AK) successfully arrived this week and this is the first chance I've had to go through it all. The dirty dozen look like this: Sparkling Red Knife From China, Buck 426 USA that has been ridden hard and put up wet, Wood Handled Hawkbill From Sabre Japan, Metal Handled Imperial USA, Red Synthetic Handled Tipped Bolster Knife From The Good Old USA, 2 Thornton USA Knives, V.C.C. Knife from Japan, China Stainless Steel Keychain Knife, Liter Pen Knife from the USA, Mil-Tec Neck Knife (China?), and a Credit Card Knife from China. The country count is the USA (6), China (4), and Japan (2). The neck knife appears to be unused and surgical sharp and will be handy for fishing. The credit card knife took me a minute to figure out but in fact, a fixed-blade knife can be successfully configured, pretty cool!

Sans the neck knife, I now have a POS Exchange starter set ready for the next round for an unsuspecting recipient - could it be you?

Glenn, I see some very promising pieces in that pile! That stag handle looks pretty nice as does the other piece of stag. I'm with Floyd, I bet we see some of those again after their transformed!

Well, I'm a little late to the game in reporting, as my package from Cody6268 came a week ago. Lots of, um, interesting stuff...

there are several multi-tools, with a few that got me scratching my head; a number of small lock-back tactical, and some older warriors that have seen a lot of service. Imperial, Colonial, Gerber, Frost, Wenger...

And a nice Boker electrician's knife, a four line Camillus not-so-easy opener (interesting grind on the blade) that needs new clothes, and a replica of my very first Cub Scout knife, with gen-you-wine shrinky-dink handles! I may try to find some blue jigged bone and give this one some new clothes as well!

Oh, and apparently I may have to change my name to Ken...or Homer (D'oh!)

Isn't there an old saying, "good things come to him who waits"? The saying is also supported to some degree in the scriptures, James 5:7-8. All this to say I've been waiting for a box of from California for a few weeks. Some of y'all know that Steamboat Willie had a rough go of the covid mess. He had contacted me and explained his situation and just as he promised my POS box arrived last Saturday morning.
Jake must really have some fine knives as the ones he sent me are really not fodder for the manure pile.
Here's how the POS box unpacked:

A nice clean, odor free package from California.

All the contents aired out and inspected, no POS detected? In the box there was a Harley Davidson motorcycle knife, a new unused Colonial cattle knife, a mint John Primble 4 blade, a little Imperial jack that has half stops and made of excellent steel, A Buck USA Nano Bantam 2834 that will shave your arm and a new Mossy Oak 3 blade stockman, a Tractor Supply offering.

I have a couple of 283s kicking around here--I love the ergonomics of them, and unlike the Spyderco Ladybug, the handle material does not fill up with black stuff from just being in your pocket.

Is that Primble a Queen-made one for Blue Grass? It definitely doesn't look like the imported ones they sold recently.

Cody, I know very little about the Primble brand but I don't think this one was made by Queen. It is a well-made, solid knife but there is one glaring problem! The nail nicks on the mark side are very hard to reach, the pen blade on the pile side is easy to access. These pictures will explain my observation:

Pile side pen blade is easy to access.

All mark side blades are obstructed: The main or clip's nick is almost covered by the sheepfoot, the sheepfoot is covered by the spay and the spay is almost covered by the handle. You have to have a mighty strong thumbnail or a pic to be comfortable with this arrangement.

This knife appears to be unused and all the blades are very stiff. They all close with a snap but only the spay and clip opens with the expected snap. Maybe a bath and a shot of Quick Release and some "exercise" would free them up to be more comfortable. I can visualize lowering the kick on the spay and sheepfoot and a EO notch to make the 3 blades on the pile side more accessable.

As for the Harley Davidson knife, that’s been something of a Christmas fruitcake among my pals out here for years. I figured sending it to Florida would take it out of circulation!
