"second" cut stag handles
I am somewhat confused as to the different second cut stag handles...some images show a blond shabe handle with worm groves..some show blond colored handles with traditional case jigging...some show what appears to be shallow to almost smooth stag????do we have a link with images that describe true second cut stag handles??

I have a few. some appear saw cut, some smooth and some are cut/jigged and dyed. none of mine are Case. its what is left usually after the bark is sawed off from the original. probably more to it but thats what I know.

I believe some second cut bone was also used. Experience is the best teacher but even then you’re in search of a unicorn. What it looks like depends on who made it and when. Even within a single manufacturer over time the jigging, dyeing, etc changes. Plus an inherent feature of natural materials being used for knife handles - seldom do any two examples look alike. JMO

My understanding is that it is an "inside" cut of the antler, after the outer bark has been sawn off and removed. Then it is either polished or jigged.
It is really no different from bone handles, in my opionion, as all of the surface character is man made.
