Re: Solinger?
Welcome to AAA PK.
It’s likely that the knife you show was made in Germany, where Solingen was (and perhaps still is, to some extent) their traditional cutlery town.
Unfortunately, during their heyday nobody was keeping good records of who was making what, or such records have been lost over time, so it’s difficult looking back to identify the exact maker or timeframe.
Nevertheless, there are some knowledgeable members here. If one of them happens across this thread, they may be able to add something.
Good on ya for posting pictures.

Re: Solinger?
Welcome to AAPK. If you can post a clear in-focus picture of the stamps and all markings on the knife it might help identify it. However if it just says “Solingen” it’s probably not going to help. At one time Solingen was a steel and metal workers guild city. It started hundreds of years ago with armor, swords, etc. Many guild members made knives in their personal shops on contract to knife consolidators for export.

Re: Solinger?
Sorry, I completely misunderstood. You’re asking if it was made in Solingen. I thought you were saying the knife was made in Solingen (stamped Solingen) and wanted more information about that.

Re: Solinger?
Without any marks or stamps it's just an unknown. Could be made in Solingen, but could very well be made in China as well. All I can say is that it's an old school fixed hunting knife design. If it's vintage that sheath is definitely not original to time period.

Agreeing with others that you will have a hard time proving any maker on this one, but it might be interesting to at least identify the handle material, be it smoothed bone or stag/antler. (hopefully not plastic) . I'm not the expert there but there are some indicators in each that others might be able to explain.

Look for the Haversian canals - only bone has them, plastic does not. If you don’t know about Haversian canals the internet is your friend.
