First knife you acquired

Do you remember the first knife that you got ? When you acquired it? Do you still have it?
Mine was a Buck 503 Prince model.
Got it when I was about 14. Was offered with brown Micarta handles back then. I still have it ! I’m currently a certified old geezer. It remains one of my favorite patterns after all these years.

Nope don’t have, but first knife I was able to buy new was a Parker Lil bandit…now I collect those..but I remember having a cheap Barlow when I was young… the handles feel off of it but fond memories

Ive had so many I could never remember the 1st. Some I do recall were a white handled melon tester which we called a toad sticker. Had some big 3 blade with black handles, a barlow, and who knows how many or where they all went. I lost a lot while farming. I fondly recall a Buck lite in green I lost while baling hay and walked that entire field with a magnet on a stick looking for the thing. Its still there somewhere. Another fave was a remington Peanut that ended up gone. I think I left that on the hay baler after working on the knotters?

I was about to say that my first memory of one was my Cub Scout knife, i was 8 or 9 then. I have one just like it now, but not my original.
But then I realized when dad passed away I was age 5 and inherited the entire garage full of tools and, i'm sure 20 knives I bet.
Man I wish I still had more of that old stuff, i have some so I'm happy with that. But that began my life of tinkering .

I think my first knife which I had when I was about 8 years old now I am 80 years old was a fish knife must have been an Imperial, all I remember is playing stretch with the kids around the block, lucky we never stuck anyone.

The first knife I bought for myself was a folding hunter with wood covers and big stainless serrated blade. I don't recall a brand, but I am thinking it was Japanese. i bought it in 1975 when I was 15 from a K-mart type store called J M Fields. I wish i still had it. I carried it every day until it ultimately got lost.

The SAK was my first knife. My Dad gave it to me for my 6 th birthday. The Camillus was my second knife I bought new from the BoyScout store.

The Dwight Devine Scout knife was my fathers first knife. Pre WWII

The Dwight Devine Scout knife was my fathers first knife. Pre WWII

My parents gave me this SAK for a birthday present when I was about 11 or 12. My older brother was a boy scout and had several knives that I immediately fell in love with. I think I was driving my parents crazy begging them for a knife. It took me a while to locate this one again. Turned out it was buried in my sock drawer and I probably haven't touched it for 40 or 50 years. Looks like I didn't treat it very well, but amazingly the toothpick and tweezers are still there, stuck in their little slots in the end of the knife!

The first knife I acquired was a Barlow my dad gave me as a kid. The first one I still have is a Jet-Aer G96 folder modeled after the classic Buck 110. The wife got it for me the first year we were married in 1979. The wood, brass and blade are still in great shape.

My first was what I now know to have been a Diamond Superior SAK clone, usually referred to as a 'Star in Q'.
First I bought with my own money was an Imperial Ireland, typical clip point part-serrated lockback job with black plastic handle. Got the mini version included in the pack.

I've told this before so here goes again. I was 4 or 5 years old playing at a friend's house. His name was Ronnie Baines. He showed me a white celluloid knife about an inch or so long with a bail. It came from a gumball machine. I put it in my pocket when he wasn't looking. When I went home my mother saw it and told me to take it back immediately. I was so scared to knock on the door. His mom said he was taking a nap and I just handed her the knife and she didn't say anything. I ran home and got another lecture on not taking things. That little knife just caught my fancy and I had to have it. I didn't get another one til I was around six in Cub Scouts.That was 72 years ago and I've been a "Knife Nut" my entire life. J.O'.

When I got out in 68 he had died & the house had been sold. Found it in 1987 when I was cleaning out my mother's apartment after she died; along with my grandfather's pocket knidfe.

Your story stirred-up a memory in me, J.O'.!
When I was about 4 or 5 my Mom worked as a clerk at our local drugstore, and she would bring me to work since we couldn't afford a babysitter.
I was free to run around and explore the store with the manager's blessing, and in my adventures I found a BIG box about 12"x12"x12" that was filled with pennies.
There was a gumball machine at the front of the store that needed pennies to operate. I knew deep down it was wrong, but I couldn't resist and lifted about 10 pennies from the box and spent the rest of the day sneaking up to the machine and buying gum that I loaded into my pockets.
When we got home my Mom found the gum and asked where I got it, to which I sheepishly replied "from the machine at the store", and after explaining where the money came from to put into the machine I was promptly marched back to the drugstore to return the gum and apologize to the manager. I can still feel the embarrassment I felt that day as I tell this story.
That was 65 years ago and I've hated pennies my entire life! lol!

Can you imagine some of the adventures we'd of had as kids had we been friends? I got into enough trouble knowing the kids I did, but after reading and getting to know some of the guys here, had we known each other it would have been disastrous, at least for our parents.
I'm glad you're here every day and posting man, lots of members seem to be M.I.A. and I'm happy you're not one of them!

This is the first knife I remember acquiring. I traded another kid for it. Of course, it didn't look like this when I traded for it. I was a lot more foolish as a kid, I've gotten a little more responsible since then (just a little, LOL)
