SOG mini-pentagon

Post by Steel Dragon »

I have a Seki-Japan version mini pentagon which i'm keeping & never sell. I also got the new version from Taiwan today. A quick check & the Taiwan blade felt thinner.
Has anyone noticed any difference in the two performance wise? Torture tested?

Hi Steel Dragon,
Sorry, but I can't help with any performance results on your knife.
I have a couple or three SOGs but mine are all folders so far. (Hope to pick up a Gov Tac some day soon).

I'm curious as to whether both your knives has the same steel or if they are made from different types of steel. If so that may account for the difference in thickness. ::shrug::

One of my SOG folders is the Trident model. I think its blade is a bit on the thin side, at least for my taste. Overall though, I'm a big fan of the SOG line of knives.

Is this right?
I think that a knife stamped made in Taiwan will use Japanese steel or some other kind of steel except Chinese steel.. China has some high tariffs or taxes or something like that on steel going to Taiwan from China. So basically there are no knives made in Taiwan with Chinese steel. Those two countries don't like each other anyways.
Am i right on this. I was tired when i was listening. ::tired::

So i guess the new Taiwan mini pentagon has steel other than Chinese(could be Japanese steel still) & the specs of the blade profile obviously changed.

I am a Sog fan and have never seen a Sog made in China yet.

Could you show us a photo of it with the China stamp?
