Couple of KA-LOks

I've had these two for a long time. The one with the ivory micarta scales has spent a lot of time in my pocket, at the ready. The MOP-like knife has seen very little duty. I like the lock-release mechanism on these knives.

Very cool, prober! I picked up one like your pearl, but with an ebony handle. I bought it at a flea market. It took me a week to figure out how to open it!!

Toomany, yeah, it is very subtle. That's why I like it. It's very much like these autos, which release their blades when moving the top (metal) bolster every so slightly.

Yes, they do. The lock is released by very slightly moving the bottom bolster.

I had one of those once...seeing this thread reminded me of it. I thought it was a pretty cool knife. At the time, I was "into" collecting folding knives with different or unusual locking/unlocking mechanisms and I was intrigued by the sliding bolster mechanism on this model. (Sold it, believe it or not, exactly 7 yrs ago to the day, according to my records, on Feb 25, 2016 )

This photo shows how the sliding bolster operated. As you can see, it's not a liner lock...in fact, IIRC, it's actually called a "Bolster Lock":
