Re: Maker's ID
Somebody smarter than me will come along and I welcome their correction, but I seem to remember being told that the stamp is a fox for an old pre-war German company. It might have been called Fuchs.
But let’s wait and see if someone can tell us definitively. I have nothing but a faint memory to back that up.

Thanks Froe,
I would have guessed that it looks like an elephant,
but then again, that's why I was asking.

I have seen that before. I think it might be a rat.

Re: Maker's ID
Thanks for the correction Brent. Do you know what years Voss was in operation? You see I have a really pretty utility/camp knife myself with that same stamp. If I can find it I’ll post a pic.

Re: Maker's ID
There were two different iterations of Voss, according to Goins’. The first Voss Cutlery Co. was in operation 1900-1939. “Germany” is stamped on the back of the tang. The second Voss Cut. Co. were made by by C. Bertram 1968-1975 and have either a hen and rooster, or a number (no hen and rooster) stamped on the back of the tang.

Here’s one I really like. It’s about 4.125” closed. Polished springs. Ignore the oil.
