Source for knife collection boxes

Post by saltwaterebel »

I came across these on Amazon. They are perfect for 3/4 inch and below closed length knives. For instance, they accommodate my vintage wrapped Case 31s perfectly! These would accommodate 3 7/8s snuggly. They do make larger sizes as well. They are about a dollar apiece but if you've ever tried to find "just right" knife boxes you'll know they are worth it. Once you get the hang of folding them it takes less than a minute. They also make larger size.

Don't let the name fool you! Look up these:

When I had to live in an apartment while my house was being built last year I stored my knives. I had the original box the newest ones came in but for the older ones that I picked up at shops and flea markets I used these from Walmart. They have a variety sizes that will fit just about any knife and are very sturdy. I don't think I paid as much as what this Walmart ad shows.

Those boxes might be good to use to store knives that like to out-gas.

My knives live in drawers, so boxes are a good thing, they keep the knives from getting banged up. I make boxes from cover stock paper and cut them out on a Silhouette cutting machine:

David I use those type to store my GECs in the tubes. The reason I like these more expensive ones is because I never could find the corrugated boxes that were 4x2x1 1/2. Trust me I tried. The corrugated you pictured are much cheaper. Thats why I put in "just right" boxes. For the tighter fit and space saving.

Here's another source for small boxes that would nicely fit small knives. These sell for 62¢ per in lots of 50. They're advertised for essential oils. I also found some for lipstick and perfume boxes that would most likely work for knives. These are more expensive.

I have got some at flea markets for cheap. These work pretty well for me.
I have them out and peek in them once in a while. ::nod::
