Hey folks, I’m trying to weed out celluloid and this one I’m not sure of. It’s a hammer brand auto with black plastic looking handles. Going to isolate it if it’s celluloid. Anyone know for sure?

I've seen lots of different patterns of celluloid in some stage of outgassing, but I don't recall seeing black celluloid. I'm with Knifegnome, it looks to me like it has already been rehandled. For one thing, the hole for the release button looks to be a bit off-center.

It very well could be a rehandle. Would have to be done before I got it for sure.

Not sure what the handle material is but I don't think it is celluloid. Definitely been rehandled at some point in time. Would have originally had shell type handle construction.

That’s a good possibility. Your knife looks just like mine except the handles. Hate it’s been altered but who knows it might have been damaged or something. Good to know if I sell it, thanks again Redrider.
