Camillus Genuine Stag Sword Brand 26 Folding Hunter

Post by Drscotty »

I acquired a genuine stag Camillus Sword Brand Folding Hunter#26. After doing research I can find no information on when this knife was produced with genuine stag. The only information I can find or the knives with the derlin Indian stag scales. Does anybody have any information on when this knife was produced?

A photo of the tang stamp would be an important clue.

Yes, a tang stamp pic is necessary and with Camillus, most likely we can narrow it down to an era and not a year.

This is the only one I’ve ever come across in real stag. That coupled with the appearance of the bolsters and pins makes me suspect that this is a rehandle.

But I never underestimate either my tendency to be wrong or Camillus’s tendency to not color in their own lines.

Here is a picture of the tank stamp. I suspected that it might be a rehandle but was not absolutely certain.

Since the pins looked to be peened rather than spun could be a rehandle. If so it is very well done. Nice looking knife!
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Yep. I say rehandle. And a very nice rehandle too!
