The blade on my beaver tail is starting to get black spots on it. I wipe it down and oil it
regularly with remington oil but I can't get the spots off any advice is appreciated.

I've got a black streak on one of the blades of my Northfield #23. I wipe the blades on that thing too. I carry it every day and I use it. It's about the same color and appearance as the etching they use on the blade.

Oh well, adds character.

Thats a bummer, Perhaps there was some acid from handling trapped under the oil. You might try cleaning the blade with a good cleaner even rubbing alcohol will work, then use a soft pencil errasor on the the black spots, clean again then reapply the oil. I think it is a good idea to clean the blades before the oil goes on. Good Luck.

Oh well, I bought mine with the intention of using it. They won't stay pretty forever if they get what they were designed for.

Kind of like a new car. Sure pisses you off when some idjit opens his/her doors into yours for the first time or you drive a bit close to a bush in the pasture and scratch it. It's gonna happen.
