Made By? Made In? Made Where?

This automatic, NASCAR related, pocket knife arrived recently in a very large group or lot of pocket knives that I purchased. I did NOT purchase the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. But, so far, I have no complaints about it. EVERYTHING about this knife screams out MADE IN CHINA. But, nowhere on this knife is China stamped, engraved or etched. I suppose there could be a .001% chance that it was manufactured in a country other than China. But if so, then where? It is an UNBRANDED, one blade, 4 1/4" closed, push button, side opening, one tang stamp, one blade etch, pocket clip, automatic pocket knife. The opening action is very fast and smooth. Closing is no trouble at all. The main blade front tang stamp says "STAINLESS" The main blade front etch says "8 Dale Jr" Overall, this pocket knife is in VERY GOOD condition. It did NOT require any cleaning. I just wiped it off, took some pictures and here it is.

I have a few inexpensive Chinese made autos Skip, but none look like yours. It's been my experience that knives with that spine positioned safety are usually the low-end models. My similar models to yours all have some sort of Chinese etch on the front blade, but yours is the first I've seen with an etch relating to the US. Don't be terribly surprised that your knife fires fast and hard, or that it lasts a long time before the spring breaks. Since they use fairly tight coil-springs in most of these knives unless you sit there and fire it over and over constantly and abuse it overall it should serve you well for some time. I don't know what it is, but something is really bugging me that your knife is something other than a Chinese build, but beyond that I have no clue. It's not a bad looker either!

This one and the one that I'll post tomorrow, are the only two push button automatics that I have
(so far). I don't actively pursue autos. But, if they are included in these lots that I buy, I certainly am
not going to complain. No matter what country it or they may be from.

You're most welcome Skip. With an attitude such as yours you really can't go wrong. Although autos aren't high on your priority list, it would be a terrible shame to just junk them whenever they show up in a lot you happen to buy, to look at them as simply a bonus like you do is very wise. I have trouble understanding when I read someone threw out a knife they received based solely on the fact it was made in China. I certainly don't agree with Chinese policies, but I can appreciate that they make many of the products we use everyday, and in some cases better than domestic products. To discard a knife because it was built in China makes zero sense to me, after all, the knife doesn't know where it came from. You say you currently own 2 push-button models, well, don't be too surprised if you find yourself becoming interested in some of the other blade release mechanisms like hidden button, scale release, bolster release, and others. Then you have leaf-spring fired, coil-spring fired, button-open/button-close, and more. I find them fascinating knives and have been intrigued with them for as long as I can remember. I'm looking forward to viewing today's auto you post!

That's another good one for "click therapy" Skip. Mind you, this model appears to be slightly better made judging by the red safety switch not positioned on the spine, modern Spydie hole, and cover insert. Likely sill Chinese, but it is what it is!
