Cutlery Hall of Fame

Post by bill schrade »

Does anyone know how I can nominate George Schrade to the Hall of Fame? I believe it's long overdue. I sent an email to Blade Magazine but no response.
Thanks

I have no idea how this is done, but I believe he should definitely be in.

While Mr. Schrade may be a worthy candidate for the Cutlery Hall of Fame, hall of fame inductions are tricky business as evidenced by Joe Cocker not appearing on an official Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ballot. IMHO, the criteria to be an inductee is highly subjective:

Demonstrated extraordinary service to the knife industry.
Displayed honesty, character, and integrity.
Advanced the industry through the creativity and originality of his or her works or contributions.
As an ambassador or outstanding contributor has furthered the positive impact of the knife industry on the world at large.
In summary, has demonstrated worthiness to be a member of this prestigious group.

Existing "Hall of Famers" must nominate inductees. About all you can do is start hounding them, and Blade magazine.

Just more gimmickry to me. Who need a cutlery HOF? Certainly not me.

Too late Gene, I've already nominated you. :D

Ha Herb!! I'll have to decline! By the way, I don't know if you heard but the Shenandoah show is March 31-April 1, only a two day show this year. Hoping to see you and John again.

What about George Korn?? Didn't he patent switches before Mr. Schrade?

Korn held the US patent on a knife that was actually designed and produced by Bontgen & Sabin in Solingen.
Others held the patent for the same knife in the UK and Germany.
