Re: Scout
Levine lists a Premier Cutlery Ltd. in Toronto. Importer from Germany and Japan 1921 until at least 1993. (May still be around?) Can't tell if your knife has solid or "shell" bolsters. Looks like the 40's-50's. Economy value.
Good Luck, J.O'.

Re: Scout
On second glance, those bolsters look solid. If so it's a bit better than "economy". J.O'.

Re: Scout
Welcome to AAPK. Premier was an import brand started in New York City in 1920s with offices also in Toronto. They did not manufacture knives but had them made in several countries including England, Germany, Japan, Italy, and U.S.A. The quality of the knives runs from very good, to low-end.
Here’s one of numerous threads here about Premier.

Re: Scout
I also had a question regarding an unusual scout knife.
I'll ask here since the thread has had recent activity.
I picked up a lot different scout knives recently. One of the tangs is stamped "Federal Knife Co" if memory serves me (I'm currently at work and the knife is at home.) The shield says "Scout Knife"
I'll dig up the pics.
Any info on the knife or manufacturer?
Thanks.

Goins’ Encyclopedia of Cutlery Markings says Federal Knife Co, c 1944-1948/49. Located Victoria Mt. Street, Johnston, Rhode Island.

Re: Scout
Apparently Camillus had a brand out of Syracuse for a short time that went by the same name "Federal Knife Company". I think mine also had Syracuse NY on the tang.
Dead ends on both roads so far.

Re: Scout
Pretty sure there’s no connection between Federal Knife Company and Camillus. “Syracuse” was a trademark of Camillus, but to my knowledge they (Federal and Camillus) were different companies. Other brands made by Federal are apparently Thornton and Johnston.GringoBombero wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 2:10 am Apparently Camillus had a brand out of Syracuse for a short time that went by the same name "Federal Knife Company". BTW here is an older thread with some additional information. Including speculation about Federal and Camillus, which was refuted by a subsequent post. https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kn ... 35&t=19400
