Had to look this up and thought I'd share it. Apparently, a gimlet is an old-world tool used to bore a hole in wood without splintering it. Interesting

Arriving recently in a very large group or lot of pocket knives that I bought, this item now becomes the most recent example to be posted under this topic or thread. I did NOT buy the group or lot to obtain this particular item. But, as it turned out, this item is definitely a keeper and will be a welcome addition to my general pocket knife collection. It is an Imperial, one blade, five removable and changable tools, one tang stamp, 3 3/4" closed, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says "Imperial (with crown) (over) PROV. USA" Overall, the pocket knife, the tools and the vinyl carrying or storage case are ALL in EXCELLENT condition. They needed very little cleaning. I took some pictures and here they are.

Here's a scarce old knife box in excellent condition that holds a Ka-Bar eating set.

I forgot that I had a complete, Imperial, pocket knife tool kit. I posted it, under this topic or thread, back on December 29, 2022. So I thought that I would see if the Imperial tool attachments would fit and work in my Ulery tool kit pocket knife. It did NOT come with and does NOT have any Ulery tool attachments. Yes, the Imperial tool attachments fit and work perfectly with the Ulery tool kit pocket knife.

I am glad that you did a "test fit" with those tools. I wonder if Imperial might have bought the patent to that design, or possibly copied it without a patent? Probably too much to expect that they randomly chose the exact same pattern?

Scott, it makes me wonder how many other tool attachments,
from other U.S.A. and foreign made tool kits, fit and work with
the different pocket knives from the tool kits. One size fits all?

Skip, one size does not fit all. I failed on that assumption.

I bought a set (I believe Colonial) in hopes that one of the tools would fit my Johnston USA set, but it didn’t. I collect the Johnston sets since that’s my last name & I think it’s cool. Some of the higher end ones have the manufacturer name on each tool as well I believe.

Mike V., that's a great looking old Ulery hobo.

M.B., you could rebuild (or make) and entire grandfather clock with that large set. :)

Here is an old Clauss marked hobo with the original box.

It's marked Jet-Line, Solingen Germany. Could be any number of German knife makers who made it on contract.
