Was this a spark proof knife ?

Ok happy new year . I hope someone can tell me what the purpose of this knife was . It is solid brass blade and handles are copper. No metal spring ! Maybe a miner knife or LP gas mechanic ?? I’m sure someone will start my year off well with an explanation. Thanks.

Hi guys,
FYI those copper blades were made of Beryllium Copper. It was also used to make the springs in automatic knives. Beryllium dust is a known carcinogen and causes damage to lungs, liver and kidneys. It's safe in solid state. Blades of Beryllium Copper and Brass were used in the blasting field as they didn't spark causing an accidental explosion.

FYI those copper blades were made of Beryllium Copper.

Beryllium copper tubes were used during WW2 to make antennas for fighter planes. After the war the surplus tubes were used to make, among other things, fishing rods. I have a vintage telescoping bait casting rod circa 1950 made of nested BeCu tubes. When collapsed it’s only about a foot long.

I see a manicure knife that was silver plated, one blade and the back spring missing.
