Good looking bone, I love the splotchy bone like that. And the color is great. Also love a gator snap. Congrats, good looking piece, as is the single blade you posted above.QTCut5 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 3:42 am Another day, another Mini Trapper! This one is from 1978, right near the end of the era when Case was still making knives with a gator snap, i.e., the good ol' days! This one is similar to my very first Case knife: a 1975 Brown Bone (or possibly Delrin, I wouldn't have known the difference back then) 6207 Mini Trapper. I think that was the beginning of my love affair with pocket knives and Mini Trappers in particular (sentimental old fool that I am

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
I used to have a bunch of these little Swaybacks (both the single blade Gent & the two blade Jack) but I ended up selling them (I had my reasons at the time) and have regretted it ever since. I've resisted buying any more new ones because, in truth, I always felt the size (3 1/8" closed) was just a tad too small for my preference. Well, I saw this one on eBay and something came over me (the omnipresent, omnipotent force of Wharncliffe Monkey, no doubt) that made me decide to throw in a lowball bid just for kicks and giggles. Surprise, surprise
my lowball bid ended up winning the auction. When it arrived I was even more surprised
to discover that it's built like a Case SELECT knife with all steel, no brass, construction. It's a cool little knife and I'm actually glad to have another one in my collection.

I still have a truck that I bought brand new in 1998QTCut5 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 4:30 amWell, now you get to carry it as a big bratty adult!!!GSPTOPDOG wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 11:00 pm The smaller one was a gift from my father when I was a boy in the 70's. Sure wish I still had my very first knife, but alas, I don't have the slightest recollection of what happened to it after I moved on to other newer & shinier knives.
So, I tend to hold on to thing things, maybe TOO MANY things

Well, I got you beat on the truck by 1 year; I bought mine new in 1997 and it's still hauling loads to the dump (it's main job these days since my little Mazda 3 gets better gas mileage for running errands).
And speaking of the 1990s...my latest Case Pick Up is this 1995 Mini Trapper _207 that BIGHEAD modified with some very cool Mammoth Bark Ivory. I didn't know it at the time I bought it, but the Mammoth covers have no metal scales underneath. I think that probably qualifies this as the ultimate shadow pattern with no bolsters or liners.

1920-40 per the stamp
Given the shield, I’d say 1920-25

Finally got this year's vault knife !
Gorgeous crimson bone, 1/2 stops on both blades, crisp snap.
My sad photography does no justice to this bone ...

Picked up this stag 18 today BUT the box says it a 65318 as does the tang.
Why the 5+3 shouldn't it be a four digit number??

That looks like bonestag, which Case designates with a 6.5
So you would have 6.5 (bonestag) 3 (number of blades) 18 ( pattern number)

Nice ones Jim, I like the muskrat and the mini copperlock. Either one makes for a great carry knife. I used to carry a mini copperlock quite frequently and really enjoyed it. Has a classy feel to it, and I much prefer a mid lock to a back lock. Makes it much easier to close one handed.

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Here is a new pick-up. Trying to find out more about it, I found out that Case made a military machete in 1942 (the tang stamp looks right for that). I have not found a picture yet. Anyone that might have one of these or know about it, I would appreciate any more information.
