Direct Connection - 100 Year Anniversary Commemorative Knife

Hi All,

I am new to this and have to say, your site/forum is AWESOME! My dad has been a collector for 60 years or so and has passed some of his goodies onto me.

Does anyone have any info on a 100 Year Commemorative lockblade sold by the old Mopar catalog Direct Connection?

See photo for details... it clearly says "Stainless Taiwan" on the opposite side of the blade (ugh!) but I have no idea who manufactured it. Considering the current fate of Chrysler I am hoping it has some renewed value???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Bratgirl, to AARP !

It looks like the ' gentlemen ' here are reluctant to answer your question. Sad to say, but a knife made in Taiwan is not likely to ever have much monetary value. The important thing though is do you like it. We all have knives in our collections that aren't 'worth' much, except for the pleasure they give us, or for a sentimental value.

Keep reading and looking at the knives here, and the next time Dad wants to give you a knife, tell him you want to pick one.

Perhaps your dad liked the lady on the handle so he bought it for that reason. I would like to see some of his other knives.

LOL HOW DID YOU KNOW?!?!? Thanks for the encouragement. I was a Mopar nut when I was a kid - and he's been a knife collecting nut since way before that so it seemed like a natural for him, I suppose. Now that I've done so much research I understand why he was trying so hard to get my Case 2159 LSSP in its original gift pack away from me with an imitation mother of pearl mini copperlock for trade. Hah! Boys will indeed be boys...

Welcome bratgirl! I don't think those knives had any real connection to Mopar, they were available through other outlets as well, sold as an anniversary knife for Lady Liberty's birthday. Not sure who the maker was, but they were fairly inexpensive.
Here's one from the fifties that does have a direct connection, they pop up occassionaly on Ebay (click on the pics to enlarge 'em):
