As cool as that knife would look in my collection ~Q~, not even I would pay that much or anywhere near thar much for it! It's starting to look like I've gained quite the reputation on this forum for my liking of BIG and unusual knives, and I like it!

Not sure if this one is "crazy ridiculous" or kinda cool in a weird way, but I found it interesting how Gerber took the concept of a basic utility knife and turned it into a complex origami-style folder.

My wife picked this one up for me when I first started collecting knives in 2006. My records indicate that it was called the Condor. At that time, she didn't know where my collecting focus was headed and neither did I. I still have it.

Yep ~Q~ and Rick, those ARE crazy ridiculous knives! They're both kindda cool though, in their own crazy ridiculous way!

QTCut5, that's a Gerber EAB Lite (sic), listed at 2.5 oz. On the left is the original EAB (Exchange-A-Blade), 2.15 oz. on my scale. The FTC made Gerber recall them, as apparently several people put too much torque on the finger guard, broke it off, and cut the heck out of their index fingers. I kept mine, but was never tempted to rely on the skinny guard.

In the middle is the replacement Rev. 2 EAB, 2.35 OZ. on my scale. Note how the finger guard is beefier and wraps the blade edge. If Gerber made them out of Al, and just used SS for the liner lock and pocket clip, they'd probably weigh half as much.

On the right is the ScrewPop pocket utility knife, 0.8 oz. I've added painters tape to reduce blade play, and a little vinyl tubing on the locking tab again to reduce blade play. The 1/4" circle above the brass eyelet pivot is a neodymium magnet that holds the blade from sliding when retracted. Not visible below the blade is a cap lifter stamped on the end of the handle. A more practical light duty pocket utility knife solution.

This one fits here perfectly. It's crazy and ridiculously small. I think they called it a "key ring knife" so I put it on my key ring.

As you know Rick, that reverse S shape is quite useful for opening up plastic packaging. Less well known is it’s usefulness in stripping jacket off of Romex wire, especially when it’s already roughed into the boxes and you have to reach in for it. A regular hawkbill knife works also.

I suspect that, in many ways, it is inspired by the Spyderco Matriarch and Civilian, both designed as self-defense knives.

As you know Rick, that reverse S shape is quite useful for opening up plastic packaging. Less well known is it’s usefulness in stripping jacket off of Romex wire, especially when it’s already roughed into the boxes and you have to reach in for it. A regular hawkbill knife works also.

I just realized that that's the very same knife that inspired you to start this thread (Great minds.... )

(At least now we know what the gears and the safety buckle are for...although personally, I'm still fixated on the "fixator"!)

Thanks for the follow up. I looked at the gears for a long time, and never saw that coming.

Pretty cool now that I see it, a more normal looking knife that converted to shears might be a good seller. As long as they actually work.

I am the one who originally posted it.

I have a feeling that senility will be a fairly smooth transition for me someday...
