Wood carving projects
Re: Wood carving projects
Sweet.
Re: Wood carving projects
I'm really jealous at all the talent here.
This is not carving like the work you guys are doing so well but thought I'd post it here.
This is my first attempt at wood burning since I was a teenager. I plan on mounting some
CASE Peanuts and small Toothpicks on it. I know it don't look purdy but it'll be okay....

David, I think it fits here just fine. Great work.
Re: Wood carving projects
Looks good!! Burning is tough to me, I think I use too much pressure because when I go between the wood grain I get wide spots. I keep intending to practice more but get sidetracked.
Re: Wood carving projects
Last of the 3 bears I made this las Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Decided to try something different on this one, it was made for the wife so it had to be special.

Re: Wood carving projects
I especially like what you did with the feet.

Re: Wood carving projects
Thank you
Thanks, the other two had the feet with burned claws and no pads burned, but looking at larger saw carved stuff I did the last set of feet differently.
Re: Wood carving projects
Finished this up a while back, the pattern and idea came out of the spring issue of Wood Carving Illustrated.
Re: Wood carving projects
More great work. Thanks for sharing.
Re: Wood carving projects
Looks great, only carving I could ever do was making a spear out of a stick.
Re: Wood carving projects
Thanks, I had some trouble with one ear so I had to downsize both, but all in all not too bad mistake.
Thanks!
Re: Wood carving projects
Did this little Smokey the Bear last night for our Scout District Executive. Just some scrap pine and walnut stain wood n the bear and golden oak stain on the hat, with glass bead eyes.
Re: Wood carving projects
Great job.

Nice carving C-WADE7! Always like seeing your work.
Here's a few things I've carved. Been carving out pumpkins with a chainsaw also.

Re: Wood carving projects
Scott your trees inspired me today. It was a slow day at work and I had a cedar shingle so I cut me out a tree and shaved it down some and cut some lines in for texture. After getting home I used the burner(on low setting so it doesn’t darken just makes light lines)to add more texture and gave it some watered down paint.
Scott,
If you will take a knife and taper the edges down on the top legs of the triangle sections it will change the looks a lot. Take a look at the unpainted one and see if you get what I’m trying to explain. Doug and I will have you a full fledged member of the spittin’ and whittling’ club in no time. Keep up the good work!
