Broken Spring Case 6250
Does anyone know who I could contact to repair a Case 6250 with a broken spring?
It's an older knife is it worth repairing? blades appear to be full.
thanks!

Re: Broken Spring Case 6250
Welcome to AAPK.
Some 6250s, especially older ones in excellent condition can be worth a good deal, so it may be worth fixing. However your question is sorta like saying “I have an old Ford Mustang, is it worth fixing?” Without seeing the knife it’s not possible to say for sure. We need some good clear, in-focus pictures of your knife. Posting pictures here is not difficult. Go to the forum home page https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/knife_forum/, scroll down to AAPK Tips & Tricks, open it and then scroll down until you find the thread with instructions for posting pictures using your device/software.
Also, how much it will cost to repair the knife relative to its value depends on whether you have a replacement spring? Or one has to be made for it. Someone here who repairs knives may have a spring from a donor knife - probably a long shot, but possible. If a new spring has to be fabricated, the repair will likely cost more, and the number of people who can do that is a different skill set and far fewer than those who can put in a spring.
Please post some pictures of the knife, both sides, with blades open. Picture of the tang stamp will be needed to determine the knife’s age. Whether or not a spring has to be fabricated and installed will help determine who might be able to do the job. Seeing the knife and knowing more about what is required, we can help you better.

Also, if the knife has sentimental value to you, consider sending it to
the Case factory for repair. It may not be cheap but the work is of
high quality. They will give you a price before the repair is done.
The turn around time may be 6-8 weeks minimum.

Re: Broken Spring Case 6250
I agree if you can get Case Repair to fix it that would be my first choice. However I don't think the 50 pattern has been produced for several years so that's why I didn't mention them as an option.
Never hurts to ask though. You can find all the info about rrepair eturns to Case on their web site www.caseknives.com. scroll down to the bottom of the home page to find the link to repair. (They too are going to want pictures.)

Re: Broken Spring Case 6250
I agree entirely with the above recommendations about contacting Case to see if they can come up with a replacement spring and, if so, find out what they would charge for the work. I know from experience that it is very, very difficult finding a replacement spring that fits for a vintage elephant toe knife. But, it can be done and I have managed to replace a couple of them. As an alternative to consider, if you have both parts of the broken spring, they can sometimes be successfully welded back together.

Re: Broken Spring Case 6250
Hi i know of a guy who works on case knives exclusively he actually makes customs just like case both auto and folders he would be my go to guy for this type work if you like his email shoot me private message . if you send it back to factory it may take 2-3 months to get it back and alot of times stuff gets lost stolen misplaced etc when dealing with factory work . few months ago i bought a microtech that would not open no matter how hard you tried to push button up it just wouldnt move so i contacted the company and sure enough 8-10 week waiting period so i took it apart and fixed it myself
i just couldnt wait 8-10 weeks for a company to fix my knife and i was told on few different forums that i may not even get the knife back as sometimes they are lost stolen misplaced etc and the company makes no warranty on lost stolen or misplaced items you send back to them , they do offer a lifetime warranty but only for original owner with receipt of sale but they were cool enough being im not the original owner they would fix it but for small fee but i wasnt told of fee lol but i fixed it myself saved me alot of time and who knows how much money .

Re: Broken Spring Case 6250
talk about a troll you are biggest one i have ever known , you are a moderator at tb and isnt it your job to troll users
you have over 5000 post on sd 6000 posts on talkblade over 400 posts here and im the troll
seems like every post i make dont matter what forum im on YOU have to make a comment on it like your some kinda professional or something , so if anyone is trolling its you boy--bill deshivs mickey beep mickey burell whatever your name is we are trying to keep this forum peaceful you know without a argument , no one is trolling you if anything you are trolling me on 3 different forums now so just quit bro your wasting your time but seems like you have alot of that as everyday all day long your always making a post on a forum somewhere and here we thought you repaired knives but seems you just talk about them and alot
your not the world authority on automatic knives just so you know many other are alot better at restoration than you so you are wasting your time because you just dont know when to quit your very childish like behavior is just not worthy for any forum for that matter so go back to that forum you dominate so you can ban people if they dont agree with you , and again this is like 6 times now i have told you to leave me alone on 3 different forums , ive told you to quit bothering me when you see my posts no reason for you to reply or make a stupid comment towards me this is the very last time i will ever respond to you as you have been blocked from my posts on this forum and no reason for me to return to any other forum your a member of because all you do is argue with people for no reason and me and alot of other friendly people dont want that get it ........ bye bye
