Recieved this Hen & Rooster single blade Stockman this week. Looks better than my Tablet pictures show it as being but here are the pictures I took of it. (Wood handles, long pull & a swedge.) ::tu::
This one will be a showcase queen.

Also recived another SAK SD Classic Limited Edition Ski Race from 2020. Had this one on my "Watch List" for over a year so I finally bought it because I got tired of it being on my watch list. I now have two of these. I think these could ::shrug:: go up in value in a few years due to the Victorinox writen on the Ski but that's just a wild guess on my part. ::hmm:: Could also make a good one for trading with other SAK Fans. We shall see. :D
::hmm:: May try to get a third one of these if I can find another one cheap. Then whenever I pass away my kids could each have one of them but I'm not sure about that. ::hmm::

I don't know that it's so much about being lazy Tom as opposed to being burnt out. I think many members push pretty hard for a long while and then find they're tired and looking to take a break. I know I've felt this way. At least this is what I'm hoping has happened to all the regulars who have been absent lately. ::shrug:: Cool knives in your last post, BTW! 8)

Beautiful knife, love that wood. I didn't know they made single blade Stockman knives, I know people mod them and remove blades of course. Great knife, wondered if it came that way or someone took off some blades? Either way that's a sweetie, I can see why it's a showcase queen. ::tu::

The seller was a collector. You can tell someone has a least a bit of a plan by the number & quality of knives they are selling. He had about 20 nice knives for sale at one time. Which I hate because I can only buy one of them. But I love it at the same time because I can at least get one. Meaning, other buyers can't normally afford buying all of them at one time if you can follow my train of thought. Anyways, he said he was giving up the Hobby. So I asked him about this knife. He said these were put together by Robi Klaas (Kissing Crane) from left over Bertram parts after Klass took over the Bertram Cutlery Hen & Rooster brand. He had two more of them with other wooden handles but I liked this one the most. At least that's what I was told. ::nod:: ::tu::

Thanks for the info, that back story was fabulous, love hearing stuff like that, totally changes your take on the item. Great knife too, that's a pretty rare bird then, and right place at the right time. Good on you.

I don't post every new (to me) knife I get, because--well, there're too many of them and I'm not sure they're all of them that interesting.

However, I got a package of knives today that had some interesting little gems in it. The obligatory colonial/shell-handled Hammer, etc., but also:

1. A little sterling fruit knife with a pearl handle. I'm not really into fruit knives, but I do have a couple in my pearl-handle collection, and this will go nicely.

2. A nice (if quite worn) little Rawson & Sons (New Haven) bone handled knife. I imagine this would have a lot of stories to tell...

3. A newer (and almost like-new) George Wostenholm pen knife (no photo).

4. A knife commemorating the New Rathaus in Vienna (Built 1872-1883, and for a brief period the tables building in the world!). It has a mark I haven't been able to find--looks like JVV or JVW. Anybody have any ideas?

5. A nice little Ulster whittler, ebony from the looks of it.

6. A Peters Brothers Celebrated Cutlery whittler celebrating the US Centennial in 1876. It also has a mark on one of the secondaries that I can't completely identify--any ideas on this?

Fascinating group there, each one interesting and unusual to me. Good show.

This just in, a New York Knife Co. whittler from a ways back. Has the "Hammer Brand" main stamp, New York Knife Co. over Walden, on the secondaries so I think it's 1938-41. Great bones. action, walk, talk, zero wobble, smooth pivot, pretty decent shape.
