Not a toothpick pattern fan but I couldn’t resist this one with the barn door hinge bolsters. I love the way the black and silver look together. Got a pretty good price on it, it has a small crack by the center pin.

Beautiful knife C.W.! I've admired those for awhile, but have yet to pull the trigger. The attraction for me was also the contrast between the barn hinge bolsters and the jet-black covers, very cool!

I found this used on eBay with $60 buy it now or obo, I made a lower offer and when the seller was packing it he saw the crack and gave me the option to opt out or reduce it by $10 so I was very pleased. Great to see a honest seller too!
Thanks, it’s my first Kabar and I’m pleased with it.Whitneyrifle wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 10:35 pm

Nice looking knife Wade!
Cool bolsters!

I don't have any KaBar knives yet but I got a deal for one in process as we speak. Should be one in the next package I recieve from my Mom. Another member sold me a pen knife.

Good looker, I really like that blade etch design and the slim frame. Congrats.
Just in is this doglegg pattern Waterville, Clark Cutlery with some of the best worm groove jigged bone I have. Maybe the best. Supposed to be from 1914 and the hand peened pins really turned me on too. I think it's a beauty and can't thank SoldiersRetreat enough for it. Check out his stuff here on AAPK. Bob is great to deal with and a true gentleman and just the kind of seller I dig. Thanks Bob.
Also in the box was this Henckles stockman with some Mammoth ivory covers. Made an offer on the bay and was accepted and couldn't believe they let Mammoth go for the price. Blew me away and the ivory was even better than sellers pics. Tickled giddy today. Thanks for looking.

Just picked up this Schrade Heritage stockman. A little moldy, but should clean up nicely. The Heritage series are like poor man’s GEC’s, the fit and finish is just terrific.

Amen. Although for me it doesn't take much. Every time I find a new one I just gotta have I feel like a grade school kid getting his first Swiss Army knife, or Scout knife. Big deal and like a new toy. Except for that Case 54 I recently bought with the flaws. Otherwise I feel very similar to those days when I was a kid. I may be decades older, but I don't feel much different really. I thought I would feel different when I grew up or aged several decades, but sadly I really don't. Kind of a let down. But thanks for the comments and I am right there with you bud.

Oooh, I so know what you mean! When I was waiting for the clasp knife that Willie sent me as a gift I was just as excited with anticipation as I'd have been had the knife been a long desired auto, and that clasp model isn't even my style. I am easily amused too, and it makes me wonder if I'm a well adjusted human being, or if I just never grew up. I'm afraid I have to lean toward the latter! LOL! Oh well, nothin' wrong with being young at heart!Ivoryman wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 1:40 amAmen. Although for me it doesn't take much. Willie you are right about those Schrade being a poor man’s GEC. Couldn’t ask for a better made knife.
I saw this one drop via email the other day sent out to CCC members and bought it. Barnboard jigged burnt cream bone barehead trapper. Random carbon Damascus blade and NO brass on this knife. Only 153 of these were made, this one is 122. Posted also in the newest Case pickups thread.

Beautiful knife, almost makes me want to try another after the fiasco of the 54 I recently bought and returned to Case for multiple flaws and a run up that was the worst I've ever seen in my life. What is CCC and can anyone shop it or do you have to be a member of something? How is the run up on those? Beautiful bone and steel too. Great looking knife I must say. If I didn't have such a bitter taste in my mouth over my green micarta and carbon steel version I would try one. But no more buying without handling for me on Case releases. Been burned quite severely on the last 3 I bought. Hope yours is better and as good as it should be.Sharpnshinyknives wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 7:32 pm Willie you are right about those Schrade being a poor man’s GEC. Iman, the run up is surprisingly good for a Case knife. If I sent every Case knife that had a bad run up back, I wouldn’t have very many. I think the real problem for Case is that they tumble their blades in a drum to polish them. That rubs off the corners of the blade and makes for a lousy connection. If you want great run up’s every time, buy Moki’s, you will never get a bad run up on their knives, ever.Ivoryman wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 7:36 pmBeautiful knife, almost makes me want to try another after the fiasco of the 54 I recently bought and returned to Case for multiple flaws and a run up that was the worst I've ever seen in my life. CCC stands for Case Collector’s Club. You have to be a member to purchase their knives.
This knife has surprisingly good centering as well, which is also hard to find on Case knives.
Sorry for your bad experience. I’ve had a few with Case knives and stopped collecting them, with rare exceptions like this one. I will only buy ones that really strike me as unusual and I prefer low production numbers on the ones that I do buy. Sometimes a handle material will really grab me and I purchase those as well, but the number I buy now is far, far fewer than I bought when I first started collecting. I found too many other great options, like Moki, GEC, S&M, Henckels, Hen and Rooster and any made during Bill Howards tenure at Queen like Winchester and Robeson. Why waste money on knives that are below par?

You are correct on the Moki, I’ve had two new one in my store and sold in first 30 minutes of posting them, I have three coming tomorrow, these are new productions and you won’t believe how good they are until you handle them. The last few Case I’ve got has had terrible grinds on the 2 out of 3, I only carry a handful of them now.Sharpnshinyknives wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 8:25 pmIman, the run up is surprisingly good for a Case knife.
