Interesting Joseph Rodgers - Any Idea on Date of Mfg?

This is a small Joseph Rodgers single-blade jack. Jigged bone handles, all iron bolsters/liners.

Note the interesting blade stamp - TO STRIKE FIRE

This would seem to make it pretty old - when did people last use flint and steel as part of daily life?

I don't know how to date Sheffield knives based on the markings, hope that someone cam help.

Steve, Goins dates that one ("Hand Forged to Strike Fire") as being used from 1875 to 1900.

As usual, another neat old Joseph Rodgers knife.

"Friction lights", or matches were invented in 1826. I just googled matches.

How long is the knife? I have a Rodgers similar to this in smooth bone without the interesting stamping.
