I gave my grandmother a 379 I had laying around and didn't use much, and it has surprisingly held up well to rough use and pretty much zero maintenance (I occasionally clean it, oil, and touch the edge up). Even the 420J2 blade said by some to be "cheese" has held up well. The snap on the Chinese Bucks is much better than the mushy snap on the US-made ones. The 379 will lop off a finger. The only one I have that matches is a 303 made by Camillus in the early '80s. Even more so, most of Bucks traditional offerings are now in the Chinese-made 37X line. Most were retired for "retooling" 5-6 years ago, which I seem to have heard no updates about.

If I wasn't already served well by a Rough Ryder Jumbo Stockman, I'd pick up a 371 as a work knife.
