Bulldog 1st gen

I’m new here but I have be collecting 1st generation bulldogs for a few years.
Just wanting to know if there is a good reference guid that lays out ALL the different type of configurations made of the 1st gen bulldogs? It’s not alway easy to tell 1st gen from 2nd gen and even 3rd gen sometimes, because of the left over blade stock they used for years.

I use "Pocket Knife traders Guide" vol 2 1994 edition , a 4' x 8" booklet by james Parker. I also use another of his books but it is loaned out & I dont recall the name. They are good but not everything is there. he does state that when his wife bought Bulldog there were many parts and they assembled 36 of each model, many with new handle materials. So, The way I see it is the knives totally assembled with the old handles are originals, the others with new material are originals with later dated handles, so??? The end result is it takes a lot of study, true for most knives actually.

Thank you so much for this info, I just see some for sale that called first generation just because the have a 85 or 86 stamped blade. I am far from a expert so just trying to learn more. In your opinion are the true 1st gen bulldogs
The best quality and best to collect?

there are lots of guys here know more than me.
Its MY opinion all the Bulldogs are high quality and collectable. Some collect just the early knives and some like me collect any of the 5 generations. In later years some knives were made for Parker at Queen and Great Eastern .
The other book is still sold by James Parkers son, James on his ebay store under Silverladdie 72. about 50 bucks usually.
