Hello! New member who grew up with Case knives
Hello! New member who grew up with Case knives
I grew up on a farm/ranch in West Texas. The men always had the Case Trapper knife, so a knife to me has always been a Case knife.
- I am looking to get a quick draw sheath and there is a demo video of this sheath with a Case XX 6165 lockback SAB.
- Is this the ideal knife for these sheaths?
- Growing up in the 70's, my cousin had a Sharktooth knife and I was so jealous. It is time I bought that one. I want a nice one to settle this in my head!
Thank you for the good content here to educate myself and very cool this knife collecting stuff!

Good Mornin’, Rorschach!
Your story sounds similar to mine, all the old cow men and farmers mostly carried Case knives when I was growing up in the ‘50’s. Must admit there were also a few Treebrands and Queens in those Levi pockets in those Florida cow pens and orange groves.

Welcome to AAPK. Having grown up in Texas myself I know exactly what you're asking. Most folks around here who carry in a "quick draw" aka open top friction fit belt sheath carry a Case 54 pattern trapper. Some wear the sheath horizontally (parallel) with the belt but most carry it vertically, perpendicular to the belt.Rorschach wrote: ↑Thu Jul 28, 2022 11:40 am I grew up on a farm/ranch in West Texas. I suspect either would also work for a 6165 pattern but have no personal experience with that. Here below are some commonly seen options, they will work with or without the lanyard attached. See here also

Welcome aboard fellow Texan!!!

St. John Chapter 1
...12 But as many as received him (Jesus), to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God...

Hello yes here are the two I have. I have a larger stag handle trapper but can't find it!
I love the Russlock.
Now I already want a CASE XX USA 6165 SAB SSP with a fat stag handle and the hole for the lanyard.
Does Case provide a lookup table for all their knives? Just need to decipher the model nomenclature.
