Jamie! Thanks for the explanation of the hook and fulcrum-release features on your 2 knives. Once again my lack of hunting experience is showing because I had no idea about removing a bird's insides immediately after shooting, but it sure makes sense. I just logged-on and I've learned something new already, what a country! 8)

Yet another beautiful knife you have there Iman. I LOVE the shape of that blade! Although I don't own any at this time, I've always heard that Kizer's are excellent knives. Really nice knife bud! 8)

Well I’m not the best on the subject but most people that hunt small birds feel it’s best to gut them ASAP because they feel that the taste of the bird is flavored from the internals of the bird very quickly after the kill.

Thanks much dog, it’s not that I aim or go for a particular brand…it’s just what happen to be available at that moment…. Speaking of rope knives, the rough Ryder are just as impressive….I know it’s Chinese but it is a solid knife and very attractive… I’ve sold I guess 5 of them and try to keep one in my store.

Got my Boker USA equal end Jack in the mail last week (bought from the AAPK Store)and have had it in my pocket the last 2 days. Nice knife long pull main, half stops, and pinched/threaded type bolsters. I like the picture on the shield but wish they would have made it a different shape.

I am the same, as I tend to blow my money on about everything I can find if I like the price ::facepalm:: But I do tend to look for Camillus in general. I am looking at a rough Ryder Sunfish, just because a GEC Sunfish would set me back somewhere about $400-$500 ::paranoid:: I guess... ::facepalm::

Thanks M.M. ::handshake:: TL-29s are great work/EDC knives and the great thing about them is the cost is relatively low compared to other patterns I am fond of.

Yep, I hear ya Dog. Those TL-29's are solid well made knives that won't cost you an arm and a leg, and they always get the job done. 8)

Nice! I have the Moose Pattern, "American Proclamation" commemorating the Monroe Doctrine. I felt kind of guilty making an EDC out of a knife I bought new in box ($25 at a local flea market about 4 years ago), but it was far cheaper than a Moose from other makers or a Hawbaker Muskrat. Plus, the Boker spear secondary is far more versatile than the spey everyone else uses.

I have noticed a TON of patterns in the Great American Story line that didn't see much use as regular Bokers (though some had changed pattern numbers).

I like the scales and shield on yours a lot better than the black plastic with ill-fitting shields on mine.

Cody,
I bought this for an EDC myself, and I too almost feel bad to carry it. I like spear point blades and at $36 I couldn’t pass this up. I will carry it but doubt I will put it through the ringer like my Gerber propel.

I'm still trying to figure out which of my knives I"m carrying to work as I start. However, the TL-29 is definitely a front-runner for working in a garage where my responsibilities will include office work, mechanical work, and actual recovery work with the wreckers (rigging); as well as the other direction (fabrication at a metal shop). It's the multitool and one-hand opener that are giving me the most headaches. I think I've chosen the knife--a rather inexpensive Milwaukee that is assisted open, part-serrated tanto blade, and best of all, features an AXIS-style lock. Plus, if it gets broken or lost, I'm out like $25. Same with the TL-29--I have several mostly in user condition ready to be a replacement.

Got this little Old Timer while fishing in the shallow end of the bay:
2 3/4" closed with stamp MM 108 over USA

This is the first MM stamp I've obtained. Found out Master Mechanic was a True Value Hardware Store brand made by Schrade here on the forum. :)

That bit about True Value is very interesting, I hadn’t heard that before. I’ve seen a couple 8OTs float by that were tagged master mechanic. Their sheep foot blades were serrated. I didn’t know there were other models.
