New clothes for a Sabre Barlow

Here is another knife that I fished out of the 'Bay using pennies for bait. I think that the red bolsters made it really stand out in my Project Pile!

Those hollow bolsters had to go, first thing. I cut out some brass bolsters from some scrap, then sawed out some Whitetail antler for handles. These are the straightest, gnarliest Whitetail that I have seen, so I decided NOT to put them on a Sabre. I have an old Remington Barlow that might get these instead!

I went with wooden handles (I forget the species. It is from the Woodcraft scrap bin). These are my first threaded bolsters. They are far from perfect, but I am still very happy with this knife!

The Main did not quite center perfectly, but it doesn't rub. I think that I must have gotten a hole crooked in one bolster to cause it, because there is also a gap between the spring and the bolster on that side. (There is also a gap between the bolster and the liner on the same side - the solder just did not flow for me).
Still, overall, I am very happy with this one!

Looks like a great save. I would have just scrolled on by that one.

Don't worry about centering, these production knives were made for function over fit. If you do get one centered, consider it a win!

Great job Reverand. That old gal has a new lease on life. As for the solder not flowing I’ve had the same problem. My “fix” is to go old school and pin them on. She’s going to make a good edc!
