Miller Bros Meriden Salvage/Rescue
I fished this one for cheap off the bay and honestly I wasn't sure if I could do anything with this poor, worn out old timer. But, after all, this knife was made some time between 1872 and 1926 and deserved some TLC. One (or more) of the previous owners obviously did some "improvised repairs" (first 4 pics) and this old guy was in terrible shape to say the least. Some new Gabon ebony scales, a lot of straightening out, soldering the cast iron bolsters back on and a few other tricks and here it is. Funny coincidence - I was chewing the fat today over lunch and a few beers with my good buddy John, and when I showed him this guy, he produced the same, exact Miller Brothers model, except his is complete with rear bolsters. The real bolsters belonging to this one must be long gone, but I don't think it looks too bad as "barehead".

Awesome blades and tang stamps on that one, Herb. Thanks for showing it to me today.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Now that’s nice right there! Excellent save on that old knife. And I agree. It looks great as a bare head.

Beautiful work Herb. You brought that old dead piece of tin right back to life. It looks great as a bare head too. Nice save!
