Now that I splurged on the Python I suppose Colt will start making the Diamondback again. I have lusted after one of them for years, had a chance at one a couple of years ago for $800. But the barrel was badly canted and nobody local was willing/able to straighten it so it was a hard pass.

Awesome Python, Boji. What about the other snake- the Anaconda? I prefer the Dirty Harry S&W .44 mag looks over the Anaconda but probably wouldn't pass up a good deal on either.

No interest in a 44mag or the longer barrels. Just too much gun for this old gal. Now, if Colt made one in 41mag I’d be tempted. Don’t think Colt has ever made a modern production 41. I do have a S&W M57.

My oldest boy, (17) works at a funeral home and is about to start his apprenticeship. The owner is as big a gun nut as we are and probably has more guns stashed around the funeral home than most people own. So he and Jackson get along really well.

We’ll today Jackson has a funeral and the deceased was a bird hunter. Below is the display the family sat up in the chapel for the service.

He texted me the picture and said the family wanted to put some empty shotgun hulls on the display but didn’t have any. So Jackson said, “hold on”. He went out to his truck and got some empty hulls from the last trap shoot and an old box and sat them on the display.

I don’t think the family was expecting the 17 year old funeral director to have empty shells in his truck. Little did they understand who they were dealing with. Lol

Thanks Boji. Jackson texted me a little while ago. After speaking with the family, he learned that this guy was a “back up shooter” for celebrities when they’d go on bird hunting shows. It was his job to shoot the bird if the celebrity missed.

That way in editing they could make it look like the celebrity never missed. lol. In the video they played at the memorial it showed him using an old Belgian Browning 12 gauge.

Seeing that display, I wish I would have thought of that for my late hubby’s memorial service. He was a waterfowl hunter, mainly the Giant Canadians. He never had any mounts done but I know I could have borrowed one. He spent several years chasing them from northern Ontario to Arkansas. But had the best luck close to home in southern Mn and NW Iowa. Knowing the area you hunt is 90% of your success. I did have a lot of pictures that I displayed at his service.
Kudos to your son for adding that extra touch. Like others said, “You raised him right”.

PS, was that Browning you mentioned an A5 or a Superposed O/U? Either are great guns.

An A5. My son was excited because he hunts with an old round knob A5 standard weight 16 gauge.

We were about halfway through our round of Sporting Clays league Thursday night when my Beretta 391 crapped it's pants. Wouldn't cycle and the bolt wouldn't close. I shot the rest of the round with my buddies 391.

Friday morning I took it apart and found a broken bolt slide connecting rod. Not an uncommon part to fail in a high-round 391. I ordered one, and also sent a text out to my shooting partners what the issue was. One of them - who lives close by - told me he had one and to swing by and pick it up. So I did - I got the part along with a few beers. The Beretta was back up and running before I went to bed Friday night.

I would applaud your son's career choices. In an age where the baby boomers, like me, will be dying off in droves for the next decade or two, it should be a very solid profession for the rest of his working life. You must be quite proud of the young man. My congrats also go to the father and mother.

Thank you sir. He’s a gooder’un. I’ve been a pastor since long before he was born, so he’s spent a lot of time around funerals most of his life.

When he was in Kindergarten, before we pulled the boys out to homeschool, they had to draw a picture of what they did over the weekend.

He drew a picture of someone laying in what looked like a box and told the teacher (who knew us thankfully) that he went to the funeral home with his daddy and saw “someone laying in the dead bed.” ROFL.

Thankfully it’s a common part and easily replaced. Those 390 and 391 Berettas are good guns for sure.

Finally got to the range with the Python today. Not too bad for first time. I tend to shoot to left of center so will need to tweak the rear sight a bit. To make sure it was the gun and not me I shot equal number of rounds on an another target with my S&W 66 snub and those were all on center.

This fail is surprising, Unk. I know Beretta manufacturers and sells high quality shotguns with high price tags. Would they offer a replacement and fix on something like this? There used to be a Beretta shop here in Alexandria, but the blue bellies ran it out.
