Forgot to add my new one!
Took awhile to find this little gem.
Looks like a blade had broke and someone modified/repaired it awhile go, kinda a modified sheep foot. Still has decent snap opening on the blades. Main has no wobble and the smallest have very minimal wobble.
All in all, still a great Union Cut Co! Made in Tidioute,PA!

Ivoryman! I didn't want to quote our last posts and waste all that space, so I hope you read this. I know you're not happy with the extras Case is clipping you for to get your new knife in shape, I was just trying to say that it bothers me when a company takes advantage of someone I respect and who knows a heck of a lot about knives and absolutely does not deserve the treatment they have shown you. Case is fully aware that they have you over a barrel since they already have your money, and I guess that's what troubles me, that they aren't a reputable company who immediately told you to return your BRAND NEW knife for a replacement or free of charge repairs and shipping, like some companies would have done. The entire essence of what I'm saying is, I wish you were independently wealthy and didn't care if you got the knife or not so you could tell Case to shove their knife where the sun don't shine! I'll stop now!

Yeah I hear you and get what you're saying. I just am used to it from Case. Been disappointing me for years. But it's okay, no ire at all, I accept what they are and maybe it won't matter to them but hey, I buy less and less Case knives so I do vote with my dollars. I was a loyal Case fan many years ago and bought a lot of their knives. I guess they don't care about my business anymore because they continue to lower their standards and I get they are selling low cost knives. I see new ones for $50-60 and this one was $69 plus tax I believe. Not a high dollar knife so I don't' expect high dollar quality control or craftsmanship. But dang, I see better craftsmanship and quality control in $30 Ontario Rats, $20 Rough Riders, $30-50 Victorinox SAKs, and I could go on. I mean come on now, Case used to compete with this level of quality. Their knives from the 1940s, 50s, 60s, 70s were the industry standard. They were high quality, detail minded builds. Now they don't do that. They don't seem to even care. One of their reps once said something like, "As long as you can't get your credit card between spring and liner, it passes inspection." There you go. They have very low standards and this knife probably met them even though it's pretty flawed. They are filling a nitch of cheap knives mass produced in high numbers and they let a lot of details slide for that price. I'm just going the other way.

We all see and read threads that highlights good workmanship and high quality knives…..maybe we need one that shows the not so quality and less than what we expect for a knife that is new from the factory. If there is such a thread I’ve not found it.Ivoryman wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 9:37 pmMadmarco wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 8:32 pm Ivoryman! Was this bought directly from Case? If not, instead of having to pay, couldn't your distributor go through their stock and exchange for you?Ivoryman wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 11:13 pm This Case 54 single just came and while I love the concept, I am disappointed with the execution. I believe this was a SFO but not much special about it. Love the green canvas, love the bare head, the single wharn which is carbon steel, I assume Case Chrome Vanadium, and it's a very thin behind the edge grind, almost appears to be a concave grind. I like the blade. But. There are a few things that I never expected from Case. In all my Case buys over many years, I have never seen a run up this crude and poorly fitted. The tang looks like a boy scout with a hammer finished it. Run up sucks. Terrible. And pile side micarta scale is almost twice as thick as the mark side scale at the bare head end where it's plenty visible. Never had a knife with scales this far from symmetrical at one end. The upside is the blade is close to dead centered, there is no wobble or even hint of it. I don't know how they do this, but there is good hard snap into the open and spring feels stout like it won't close on you, and yet the open pull is pretty mild and not as hard as I expect with the way the spring feels when it's open. Closed it feels much weaker so it's easy to open, no nail breaker at all. I like that. Very well done. Just as a whole it's disappointing because it's the kind of fit and finish on the run up and bare head that makes you not want anyone to look it over too closely or examine it. Bummer. I expected Case to do much better. I have many of their knives and none of them have run up like this. I like being able to let someone see my knife and be impressed with the fit and finish. I wouldn't want them to look too close because it's not good.

SFO from DLT trading. Don't know if they have more, and not interested in another. They didn't build the knife and they don't warrantee it. Case is responsible for the pathetic build and letting it out of the factory with all the flaws. Case is the culprit. All DLT can do is sell the junk Case sends them.

Here are a couple knives that came in mail a couple days before my birthday.
The Winchester is well made with fancy knurled handles that I think are bone. The equal end MOP handled knife looks to be unused
and all four blades are stamped ULSTER KNIFE CO. 3 1/4” closed.
A special thank you to my friend Jerry T. for the gift
