What knife for an complete EDC for under $50

I almost never click on links like the OP's. My opinion is that the OP may be a bit annoying with his clickbait posts, but since he is not trying to scam anyone out of money I would just ignore it.

But as explained above, he is scamming Bryan out of some membership money by taking advantage of something he is not entitled to. And since there are no other posts other than the ones with links in them, nothing is contributed to the site.

I don't post videos to make money. I have 15 subscribers on my YouTube channel. I post videos to inform and hopefully generate some discussion ( looks like I successfully did that! ). Guys I'm not out to make a quick buck or generate hits, I'm just making these videos for fun. If you want to watch go ahead, if not that's fine too. If it's that annoying I'll stop, I just hoped to bring some content to the forum that could be either useful, fun or both.
If the majority don't like what I do I'll stop, let me know.

David, you’re making too much sense.

There is a place on most YouTube videos for comments, unless they’re somehow turned off. So I guess a discussion can be had there.

Out of curiosity I watched one of his videos. Bladesman is possibly reaching a different audience than just the forum members here, and he’s instigating hopefully positive interest in knives. Seems to me that’s what we’re all interested in. If he’s somehow cheating Bryan, maybe if he bought a premium membership here that would assuage such concerns.

I would go for a opinel or Higonokami, Douk-Douk are worth a look as well, but they do lots of different higonokami at different prices, lowest in the uk is £11.99 I have a few, the brass one with white paper blade is my favourite

I have been looking at these for a while now but don't know if i like the metal covers. But you obviously like them, it is good to see someone who actually has some giving their opinion. Love your strops, they look like high quality work.

Cheers there not for everyone tbh, I like a slim knife for general edc and the Douk-Douk or higonokami workout perfectly for me, between them I prefer the higonokami, they need a little bit of playing with from new as I bring the handles closer to the closed blade as it flares out from new, I pein it if it's a bit loose , and I run a strip of G10 liner along the inside of the bottom of the handle as the blade edge hits it, I've got mine five tuned to open oho and close with one hand , the Douk-Douk are pretty much ok out of the box, not overly sharp but a bit of a strop and there like scalpel's , very solid snap with a half stop

One of the things I appreciate about a AAPK is how protective the members are of Bryan and even of the staff of AAPK. Aside from Bryan we have four or five administrators, (I think Dimitri may have taken some time off, but I still see him in the log books from time to time), we are all volunteers, and obviously at a ratio of five administrators to 27000 + members we do not have a intense presence on the forum.
The only reason we can operate in such a manner is because our members enjoy this site and like it the way it is, low-key and friendly. You folks are usually the first bought a problem with a post or an individual and you notify us via the post report or by sending us a private message.
I think I speak for all of the staff when I say we really appreciate your efforts!

As regards this particular topic and the OP in question, I don't believe bladesman has violated any rules at AAPK.

I have followed this topic since I first was notified of the report.
Bladesman's behavior is not typical of someone who is scamming or trying to take advantage of AAPK and Bryan's good nature.
Bladesman has been a member for about 10 months. Most spammers and scammers will post their spam or scam within hours of having their membership approved. This gentleman is not done so.

His site on YouTube is apparently not monetized and even if it were, with 15 followers he's not getting wealthy!

I watched part of a couple of his videos and he was not selling anything, so there's no violation with posting the links to YouTube. A lot of our members who are creative enough to make their own videos do exactly the same thing. I am not one of those creative folks!

I'm glad that bladesman posted to the topic again and clarified his position. What he said seems to me to confirm my first assessment of his postings. I believe he shares in the passion we all have for cutlery of various types but his approach is just a little different than AAPK's traditional forum format. I do hope he will continue to answer when someone posts about one of his videos because this is the place where the discussion will happen easier than on YouTube. The forum is designed for discussion and give & take in a written conversational format.
I also believe our search function makes it easier to find a conversation on a particular topic or model of knife then the search engine on YouTube.

His approach and methodology may be a little different than what we are used to, but I think it's a valid form of communication about knives and knife collecting.

I hope he continues his presence here on AAPK and hopefully he will become more involved in the discussions in the forums which is where our members are used to finding information and discussing topics.

If you read the info on the membership page as Ken mentioned, it is listed there. Links in posts are available with silver or gold memberships. The OP did not clarify if he is going to buy a membership or not.
