Kane Klaw Kutter Information

Post by J529A »

Does anyone know anything about this style pocket knife. I have seen the Kane Klaw Kutters/Cane Cutter made by Frost and United Cuttlery. I can't find any information about them. I can't figure out what the unique blade style is used for. I don't think a pocket knife would be used to harvest sugarcane as it's small size makes it rather ineffective. I know they use machette size blades to harvest sugarcane. I just can't find any information about them. I see them sometimes come up on eBay and the seller typically states the blade tip is broken. Any help as alwasy is greatly appreciated.

It’s a razor or one-arm pattern - made so you can open it on a belt loop or anything you can press it against. Story is (folklore or not) that it was designed in response to a need by one-arm veterans returning from the Civil War.

Compare your knife with this one and then use the forums on AAPK or Google to find additional info on one armed man razor.

Sorry I was in the process of typing when you posted your response. Had I seen your post there would have been no need to post mine. You did a fine job of answering the question. TY

Thanks Tim and Bob! So this pattern has absolutely nothing to do with sugarcane! I didn't think it did but United Cutlery has a pattern they call a Can Cutter. Anyway, thanks for the information! This pattern is not very common and it makes sense it can be opened with one hand.

Apparently the marketing folks at those places either know nothing about knives, or they don’t care and just stick a name on them they think will appeal to modern-day buyers. ::uc::
